Honest AV Question

What does the Alliance Griffin do? Anything?

I ask because I always see the Horde Wyvern and have been killed by it.

The Wyvern travels up and down the road targeting Alliance. Hovers over SPGY and fireballs us it’s impressive and annoying.

I have seen the Alliance WCs return to base and get their turn ins…

But I almost never see our Griffin and when I did, it didn’t seem to do anything? It seemed kinda useless.

So I ask, what am I missing?

I’ve seen our grphons do two things. Once they bugged out in db and fired into sbunker over and over again. The other is they fly away and do nothing. I’ve never seen them attach horde. Even if horde is at spgy, they just fly away.

Think of them more as only Rep turn in’s and it makes more sense as to what they do.

…unlike the horde wyvern which follow and destroy us.

The wyverns or griffins are either tethered to the field of strife and push north with you, if you plant the beacon, or fly to enemy base to bombard it. That’s the two options once all the turn ins are complete. Alliance flight masters rarely make it to base for the turn ins because horde kills them if they are released on their journey to base. They are marginally stronger than a commander or lt, IMO they should be a lot harder to kill by players.

Thanks for the responses.

I know they are often killed but I’ve seen them a number of times get through.

The only time I remember seeing a Griffin it flew over the Horde base and FWGY but it didn’t do anything. And I’ve never seen them protect the base.

Kinda sucks but it answers my question.

Do you know where the beacon needs to be placed?

I have actually seen the gryphon attack someone one time in 15 years, near FWGY. Basically all the Alliance NPCs bug out and despawn and are ultimately worthless.

Meanwhile the wyverns are out every game and will firebomb you even when you’re stealthed out of combat.

Only because you are at your base. It’s the same way for Horde. They hover near Frostwolf Keep and FWGY.

Well, Ichman killed me in Dreks room today on my Horde toon, so they do work and i have seen two over the Horde base which makes taking back towers and doing turn ins problematic.

The answer is simple. The horde wing riders always make it back to the base; the alliance ones do not. You have to save your wing riders before you can use them, meaning they must survive the hike back to your base. For the horde, 2 of them easily make it back before the match ends. The third one is largely irrelevant because the match is over by then anyway. For alliance, none of them ever make it back unless the horde simply neglect the NPC running past their raid.

they do, they’re actually quite annoying.
