Homunculi is an interesting ability with some unique properties, unfortunately the ability has some bugs to the AI that make it incredibly annoying to use in a lot of instances.

Homunculi have a hard time sticking to their primary target when there are other targets even ones not in combat. Often times I will cast the Homunculi on a target and they will break off from it to attack nearby neutral mobs. It doesn’t happen all the time, but if the target they were cast on is still alive they shouldn’t be leaving that target for another.

Homunculi take an excessive amount of time to reacquire a new target after you’ve left combat. From what I have seen you have to sit in close range about 10 yards of a target for at least 3 seconds before the little dudes will decide it’s time for them to attack. They need better target acquisition. Either make them trigger off a defensive effect from the priest OR make them aggro quickly when in close range, but this weird delay they have where they just stand there is silly.

Keep those nasty little things away from my Warrior… Thank you…
I think that ability is a bit like other combat pets, like the mechanical dragonling. Obviously all of them need a little work, but who knows how much work it could take to make them function more efficiently
This biggest but I found is it only hits one thing, then rarely goes after another target I’m attacking. Then when I’m just running, they will run off and start attacking random things. A pet bar would be nice for them.
I prefer my abilities to function. Also they have like no health, so learn to cleave.
All they need is better combat acquisition. The other combat pets last for like 30 seconds typically, homunculi last for 2 minutes on a 2 minute cd so they are practically 100% uptime which makes the issues that much more glaring. If it wasn’t such a core aspect of priest damage from runes right now, probably be less problematic. But if they become the focus of shadow dps in later phases it’s going to feel really bad for the current worst dps to lose their utility damage spell functionality because of bad AI. They already have buffed hunter pet AI somewhat.
What I have found is that if you’re in combat with several mobs when you cast them, they will have all of those enemies in that specific combat on their aggro table. If you drop combat after then pull more, they will only have whatever they aggroed to. But even then it’s not consistent.
I agree, a pet bar would be preferable. They have a more consistent uptime and impact than shadowfiend and that got a pet bar.
EDIT: They also don’t keep the priest in combat when they attack PVP targets. I don’t know if they keep the PVP target in combat, but a rogue did stealth while being hit by them, unclear if it was a vanish. Essentially they are really buggy, even worse than old hunter pets. We just need a teeny QoL for them.
Perhaps they frighten me and make me forget how to cleave?
Blizz could turn them into pets and give them more manual control. Idk if that would be a good or bad thing though
Mine like to break away and attack critters. I guess they really hate squirrels lol
I mean warrior go zug so it wouldn’t take much.
If they did this it would be an overall better solution objectively. The question is how this would work for an ability that gives you 3 pets.
Death to all Squirrels!
