"home" connected, but "world" connection dropping

Hello,

I’ve been having trouble for about a week now. In Classic era, my game becomes unresponsive and I need to force-quit WoW.exe. My chat continues to work indicating that “home” is still connected.

Troubleshooting
So far I’ve:

  • deleted WTF, config
  • ran “Scan and Repair”
  • checked drivers for updates
  • power cycled my modem
  • opened ports on my router

So far, none of this worked.

I found an old thread with an IP for blizzard servers and ran WinMTR with these results:

I’m seeing lots of packet loss after my ISP servers. Any help would be appreciated.

Home = Chat server
World = World server

They are two separate IPs.

The fact that you’ve got 11% packet loss, after 1000+ packets, to your own router isn’t a very good thing to see. Are you on wifi? If so, move closer to the router or connect to it with an ethernet cable.

You might try power cycling your router and make make sure that its firmware is up to date. On your PC, make sure your network card drivers are up to date.
