Any advantage to use a 2-h caster sword vs a 1-h +shield??
Only advantage I see is the 2-h is full haste bonus. Could not find a 1-h with haste. But without shield you have less armor and 0 block…
Either craft one with haste or there’s one from Azure vault (I think) with haste and vers…
You won’t be able to spend holy power on DPS with a two handed and yea, you’ll be less tanky with no extra armor/block chance.

currently only disadvantages to using a 2-hander. Can’t even use Shield of Righteousness (but until 10.0.7 why would you?)

Ah yes, the tankyness required for all combat… The only place a shield has a clear advantage is the last boss in Court of Stars and any enemy that targets random players with physical damage which is few and the armor given by a shield shouldn’t make a difference in your survivability. Looking at this forum, no shield user actually likes using SotR, even for dps, unless wings is already up. Everyone fishes for avenging procs and SotR doesn’t help that. 2H is totally fine for these reasons. If 10.0.7 goes live as is on PTR, Blizzard is passive-aggressively saying they don’t want 2H holy paladins for some reason.

It’s still a survivability advantage even if a small one. He was just asking what the difference was.
People use sotr all the time for DPS, just not on 1-2 targets. On large packs that don’t need much healing you can pull well over 100k DPS because of it.
Edit: and just to be clear, I still think it’s terrible and should do way better damage, especially in single target.
Hopefully they listen to the feedback going on here about making LoD and WoG have offensive capabilities and have SotR be purely a defensive choice and 2H a more offensive one. That would balance everyone’s options.
Ya I’d love to see a proper holy power spender for DPS if they don’t want to double dip like that. Some people have suggested holy prism as our spender, but a buffed version from what we currently have. I’d personally love to see exorcism as our holy power spender.

People have suggested it that aren’t me. If they just let you have some finisher other than sotr that allowed for holy power to be funneled into judgement, it would be big. A corresponding finisher for the caster build could maybe do what infusion is doing an allow for some kind of fat cleaving holy light (the current cleaving version hits for pennies.
This would give us a damage buff, a buff to 5 target healing for both damage and caster builds and options as far as how we’d want to finish beyond just spamming LoD most of the time.
