I was kind about it 18 days ago. I’m done, It’s beyond depressing, it’s a failure. If there is someone responsible for WW, then they deserve to get their rears chewed out something fierce. I don’t even believe there’s a single Dev playing WW, but I don’t creep on devs socials or anything so who knows. Also this is not a rallying cry to get someone in trouble at all or to flame any one specific person.
GO READ what your community has done for you, Babylonius did an enormous write-up that documents it all spectacularly. He knows where the spec comes from, how we got here, and possible fixes too. My biggest gripes:
- Fix our stat problem. We don’t scale, flat out. We stack vers because it’s better than mastery which is supposed to be our stat of choice. Do something to fix this. WE NEED TO SCALE throughout the life-cycle of an expac. I’m blown away this hasn’t been addressed in all these years.
- Our talent tree is a hot mess. Capstone as a totem on a mobile class… garbage.
Fae Line Stomp, looks pretty, but is a jank rune that forces us to stand inside a dumb tree shaped box we have to account and know where the tank is moving to or else we suck and drop the chance to proc rebuff time. OH YA AND STILL BREAKS COMBO STRIKES.
- Bonedust brew is slightly better and the same thing but just for Spinning Crane Kick. This is is less offensive to me with a @mouseover macro.
- 5 talent nodes buffing ToD windows, 2 on the class tree. Lazy lazy lazy, 5 nodes for 1 buggy button that is only good at executing already dead enemies. on bursting weeks this is trash. have one more ww in the group, trash. Get ready to canabalize each others dmg. it was cool in torghasht, because it scaled to all hell, which is more than we can say about WW in PVE.
- Crap ordered class tree, means we can’t even get windwalking node (our literally named spec, a) because it’s just a garbage buff, and b) our mandatory raid buffs are on opposite sides of the tree.
the class tree issues still remain but the direct buffs were nice! ty blizz… keep working on ww.

This article is both wrong and not particularly relevant to actually solving windwalker problems.
Resources are still meaningful. The issue is within the last row of the talent trees on both the spec and class sides.

The arguments against the totem and faeline stomp (that are repeated ad nauseam by the way, not sure why you’re saying it more) are nonsensical to me. “We are a mobile class!”
Yeah, but the group of mobs is staying right there lol. So that totem being there in the center of that pull has nothing to do with our mobility.
Tanks get aggro, pool mobs into one spot, and then dps them down. Once they’re pulled into the cluster, that’s where you put the totem. I hope that helps.
Faeline Stomp is a similar argument. “We have to stand there in that area in order to do damage!”
Well yah. And Blizzard doesn’t affect mobs outside the area, and Earthquake doesn’t affect mobs outside the area??? Lol. We aren’t the only one with a ground targeted aoe.
Again, once the tank has clustered the mobs, then you smash. I really don’t think it’s that complicated.

And hey, i’m not saying you have to like the capstone or faeline stomp. Of course you don’t have to. But like, just say you don’t like them lol. You don’t have to manufacture reasons because at the end of the day, those are pretty flimsy reasons.

Does a mage die if a Boss frontals their blizzard? Is blizzard a huge source of damage both single target and aoe?

tiger totem is the most unnecessary but free damage talent I’ve ever played with. It is ~1% of my damage and it is such a nuisance. It isn’t a huge pain point but the class would be better off without it. Optimal use requires a stacked group for 30 seconds, but who cares since its just a talent we will always take because our class tree doesn’t really have much to compete for ww. Its an extraneous button the only hassle is keeping it on a bar, but its one of several buttons that are useful once or twice a fight for minimal gain on a class that already does minimal damage.
Like let me just make this simple. Tiger totem’s best case scenario is above ww aoe cap sustained aoe localized in a small area over 30 seconds. In this incredibly unlikely scenario it might do 2-4% of your damage instead of the usual .07%. This ability feels less worthy of my bar then chi burst and that ability is only used to get free chi on prepull.
Faeline stomp is a square peg shoved into a round hole. It is so clearly an aoe ability and it is only used because of the horrible design of the covenant legendary turned talent point that just makes it give free damage. Its not an attack its a upkeep buff that requires your tank to have predictable movements(impossible).
Faeline stomp should never be a capstone that is sought after in pure single target, but it is because it’s support talent is overbudget in a tree full of underbudget garbage. Its also an ability with bad design as it currently is because its feedback loop is awful: Lets have an ability that does negative damage and negative healing with a 30 second cooldown that drops a ground effect that does nothing but give you a chance to hit that worthless ability again. Lets add a 12% damage amp to that ability so it becomes a popular ability type: the maintenance buff, everyone loves maintenance buffs! It also just doesn’t play nice with our cds: doesn’t cost chi, doesn’t do damage is shorter then serenity, its counter synergy and implemented poorly in an already poorly implemented class tree.

Well put. I don’t want to discredit the update to FLS visual but … it really can’t stay …
It’s just an ability that doesn’t jive with the class at all and almost everyone hates it. And the people who say they like it wouldn’t miss it if It was removed.
I never take it becuase I’d rather do less damage than live in that misery

Same deal with tiger totem … that thing is so useless
Anything that requires an aoe ground effect for monk other than cc just … doesn’t fit period.
