Holy Priest PVP Feedback

Hello Everyone, I just wanted to give blizzard some feedback on holy priest season 1 of the war within pvp.

  • we need more mobility. Add a New spell (speed of light) Grow Angelic wings on your back and Dash forward 10 yards at the speed of light ignoring all movement hindering effects (2 charges) 1 min cooldown. The issue with angelic feather is that it isn’t instant and it’s pretty slow, so this new spell would fix our mobility issue and it also matches the class theme of wielding the light. Mobility is a huge issue that needs to be looked at for holy priest PvP.

  • Reduce talent bloat near the capstones, all of the nods before you can access the end capstones are 2 points which makes the tree feel very restricted on what you can take. We have too many nods that require 2 talent points. Make nods that require 2 points into one point instead for example light of the naaru make that one point so that light weaver can easily be taken which synergies with our current 4 set. This will allow more breathing room.

  • Bring back dragon flight season 3/4 holy priest tier 4 set bonus as a capstone talent. Tbh it feels really weak not having it. And it was one of our best tiersets.

  • Change dominant mind - make it work on enemy players and have no cooldown as a form of a spamable cc. Holy paladins, resto druids, presvoker all have a spam able cc, it’s only fair that we get one aswell. Mind control isn’t really ideal because you lose control of your character. We do have psychic screem but that requires melee range and with how slow we are sometimes that’s hard to set up, having a range cc would be really good for us to be more competitive with other healers.

  • Buff phase shift so that it makes us dodge attacks for 3 or 4 seconds as the current version only lasts 1 second. This will allow us more breathing room when we get intrupted especially since we only have one major spell school which is holy magic.

  • Remove vampiric embrace talent for holy priest and replace it with something better. We legit don’t have a shadow magic attack besides shadow word pain or mindgames (pvp talent no holy priest takes), taking it isn’t really worth what little healing it gives for its cooldown of 2 mins, make it a more friendlier talent for holy priest because in that choice nod leech is always the better choice especially with archon because your dealing both damage and heal. I get why it’s there for disc priest but for holy priest it’s never taken.

  • Add a New spell (Surge Explosion) consume 1 surge of light proc to deal massive damage and healing to everything 10 yards around you, inflicting enemies with holy fire and healing allies for 5% of their max health.

  • Remove desperate prayer from the holy school classification. Whenever I’m spell locked desperate prayer is also locked and unavailable which is weird. The name of the ability is desperate prayer it shouldn’t be spell locked as-well when your inturpted

  • Make some of our spells fall under a different pool other then holy. since we use some fire magic give us a healing spell under the fire spell school catagory. So that then when we’re interrupted we aren’t just sitting ducks…… for example….

  • (Continued) new spell (Heart of the lion) set your heart ablaze healing allies within 15 yards for 2Million fire healing. This ability would be perfect because Isn’t anduin a priest and In the cinematic for BFA Anduin used an ability to revive the fallen alliance soldiers you can give us an ability similar to that for holy priest but instead of an instant mass rez it would be a instant mass heal but in the fire magic school.

  • Buff Holy mending - this talent isn’t as strong as it used to be in dragon flight, even if I perfectly execute spreading my renew to allies and then applying prayer of mending it still often only heals for 3Million at the end of an 40 min long epic battleground and this is with me playing the applying renew and POM mini game the entire time… it’s just not pulling enough healing, buffing it will make it a more competitive talent versus Benediction.

  • Make seraphic crescendo pvp talent baseline for priest, right now it feels mandatory to take this pvp talent along with spirit of the redeemer. If seraphic crescendo becomes baseline it will help us with more flexibility with picking pvp talents instead of feeling like we’re trapped with picking these two all the time. We could finally take other pvp talents.

  • Buff Archon for pvp for holy priest. Right now in pvp Archon is behind Oracle and it’s due to oracle making the priest a bit tanker then Archon in PvP so to fix this you can make it so that Halo can’t be interrupted if you’re Archon and also buff healing and damage of halo aswell for pvp.

  • Consolidate a few of the prayer of mending talents. There are too many required to make prayer of mending heal for a decent amount.

  • Increase our mana regeneration and reduce the cost of some of our regular upkeep maintenance spells like renew and prayer of mending. Just a few casts of renew on like 4-5 people has my mana already drained by like 10% of my mana pool and Often I find that I’m running out of mana way too quickly. Mana is a huge issue.

  • Buff Holy ward for holy priest so that it effects the next 2 forms of cc - cc is out of this world this expansion especially when classes can spam cyclones, sleep walk, and repentance. This can be a good counter to that. Evokers have a way better ability then this called nullify shroud which counters the next 3 forms of cc versus holy wards measly only currently countering one so we can make holy priest more competitive with this buff.

Ultimately, I hope the priest class developer (If there is one) reading this can implement all or at least some of these changes to make Holy priest more competitive and fun in PvP. :grin:

I like this idea and agree we could do with another means of being mobile.

Id argue that MC is more ideal than regular CC, because there are instances where you can move them out of the fight for a lot longer, cause them to LOS their own teammates, or even kill them. ie walk them off a cliff in EotS

That said, Dominant Mind as an alternative would mean more options for gameplay.

It doesnt just dodge attacks, but also prevents CC. You’re asking for is a non-counterable 3-4 second immunity to all CC and interrupts, on top of Spirit of Redemption … and feel this would make us OP :slight_smile:

Agreed. It’s a wasted talent for us.

It’s tricky , because our spells are centered around lore and PvE. Holy Fire isn’t an element; its more like an intensity of condensed light that causes burning.

Being locked out of Holy is hard on us, but therein lies the skill of playing Holy Priest :slight_smile:

Agreed. It’s far too good to give up and ends up being mandatory. That said, a lot of other classes face the same issues with their PvP Talents, and is overall a design issue.

Archon is weak for a few other reasons. It’s heavily centered around casting and lacks instant-casts compared to Oracle.

You’re doing something very wrong here.
In a 15-20min RBG, I’ll usually clock up 40mill with PoM alone.

Renew is a terrible spell for the small amount that it heals in a PvP environment. Ditch it.

Overall I havent found mana to be a severe draw-back, though I play Oracle and perhaps it’s worse for Archon?

Evokers dont have Spirit of Redemption though :wink: … which makes us immune to all CC and damage and with it Talented, makes it a 60 yard range.

A lot of your proposed changes would make it easier for casual players, but for the likes of us few Holy Priests out there that compete at 2.1k+ RBGs, any or all of these buffs would make us crazy OP haha :slight_smile:
