How about you go into a dungeon just assuming everybody is going to roll on everything that drops? You do that and the community will never disappoint, but sometimes surprise.
Healing paladins weren’t booted or blacklisted for rolling on healing cloth gear. Do you people not understand that healing pallies wore cloth a lot? They don’t have many choices, this is totally acceptable if they are the healer. Now if pally tank rolls on it, that would be different .You should need for the spec you are in.
Intellect Mail and Plate. What’s that?
Weapons have AP, agi, crit, sta on them- which hunters benefit vastly from, especially agi.
There’s pretty much nothing a hunter can get in that slot that someone else doesn’t want- and even the few clear BiS hunter items, like the BSH, I’ve had warriors roll against a hunter for.
You can roll on cloth/leather as a pally, sure- not saying you can’t. Just saying you’re the same as a hunter that rolls on melee weapons, and if you do piss off casters, hey, you know what you’re doing.
Uh, no? They souldn’t? People should understand how to play the game.
Because weapon damage is so big for melee dps it is significantly different. The items are significantly better for melee dps. Cloth and leather are the same for pallys and other int classes. It’s not the same.
No, this is 100% bootable in my view. If you’re in the dungeon healing and rolling against the warriors and ret pallys for strength gear without asking, you’re being a jerk.
The amount of intellect, let alone healpower, plate/mail in the game is so disproportionately rare compared to leather and cloth that it should be expected for any healer to roll on it.
Personally, the whole “need if you’re going to wear it now/need for main spec” attitude is why I don’t heal dungeons even if it is the easiest(also most boring) thing in the game to do as a pally. I’d never get any gear for how I intend to play the class.
Playing one spec just to more efficiently get gear for another simply does not work with randoms. I was considering respeccing prot to tank dungeons for more dungeon runs, but then I’d never see a 2hander again.
AKA- it’s fine when I ninja loot, since I’m a pally and thus all loot is mine. It’s not cool when a hunter gets a melee weapon- even though the stats on weapons are major dps boosts.
If you’re going to loot mage/lock gear cuz you think all armour is yours- then you’ve no high ground on hunters rolling on melee weapons with good stats for them.
It’s not mage/lock loot. It’s int gear. Int gear goes to people who use int. I use int. Therefore, I am 100% free to roll on any int gear and don’t need to pretend that the mage deserved it more because he reaaalllllyyyy wanted it
I usually ask for +healing or mp5 cloth on my classic Chalandry priest.
If the pally wants I’ll roll with them on cloth but I seldom give it over freely unless the pally is a friend / guild mate / someone really needing gear and I have as good or better pieces.
Since priest is level 15 and I have two warriors and a pally who I run with often, we work together to get stuff that helps us as a unusual team.
We really need to get either a rogue, mage, or perhaps a druid (leather wearer / mail low demand with us and another healer with a brez would maybe come in handy for simple dungeons.
I’m supposed to be grinding up open up VC right now, but I"m loafing today.
YA work with who and what ya got don’t ya know.
/wink
I think you should go to a post-cata (?) version of wow where plate wearers actually “had” to wear plate for the 5% main stat increase. In every other version of WoW Paladins/Shamans/Druids constantly “downgraded” armor types to actually get Int/Spirit on their gear.
I don’t think you quite understand itemization for those Plate/Mail healers… This isn’t retail, some BiS healing gear is going to be Cloth and Leather and good healing Plate/Mail is far and few between.
Honestly, I would argue the opposite. It’s more proper conduct if the Paladin healer announces they want to roll on NON-Int gear for their off/soloing spec such as str items, 2h weapons, ect.
If the Paladin in your party, or shaman on the Horde side, is a healer then honestly you should assume they will be rolling on Int gear regardless of armor type because of how limited good healing Plate/Mail is.
Paladins have every right to caster gear if they’re holy. That’s just the way vanilla works. If they’re holy rolling for caster gear they shouldn’t be rolling on 2h weapons though.
If a Holy paly is healing your group, then you don’t need a heads up. If a paladin is prot or ret, then their off-spec preferences come second to others in the group that need the gear as their main spec.
Always assume the worst, because until it says you won x or are in a guild group, i don’t trust anyone.
If its an upgrade I will be rolling need. I don’t need your permission to do so.
This right here sums it up perfectly.
Someone lost a roll to a holy paladin in an instance and got upset and ran to the forums. Im guessing that was you?
That attitude will get you tons of friends guaranteed.
