HOLY paladin NERF is worse than it seems

As the title says, it isn’t just the 75% nerf to beacon, thats the ENTIRE way holy paladins function. We don’t have any raid healing abilities, (concecrate isn’t functional or meaningful in raids). Our only way to contribute is flashing or holy lighting the raid with beacon on Main tank, which is what makes us a good tank healer… but now on any high damage boss fights we have to single target heal or else tank can get deleted… i mean, it has literally NUKED beacon, its a bad spell now. Our only strength was being able to focus the tank while healing raid. but we are going to have to single target tank on boss fights now. Massively heavy handed nerf. Beacon reduction to 90% healing would have been tenable if you wanted to nerf holy paladins, but this has broken beacon.

so now if we need to switch to single targeting the tank ( which we will because its literally our only strength) that is a 100% healing reductions ROFL …

They know. They don’t care. Paladin is a popular class to hate, and only fellow healer players that play a few of the healing specs understand the issues or frustrations that healers face. Holy Paladin is the most narrow-focused, hyper-specialized healer in the game, but because they have high healing output, no one really contemplates the limitations they have as a trade-off.

I wonder if holy paladin will be considered for a healer spot in raids.

as you know, heavy aoe damage fights we are the weakest healer in the game by a HUGE margin… but we were the best tank healers… but are we now ?

Holy will still have uses for tank healing, it’s just absurdly frustrating to have that get nerfed when that’s pretty much all you do or have ever done. It’s not the most rewarding feeling specialization to play when you’re basically the Fischer Price Baby’s First Healer hitting buttons that could be handled by a drink bird desk toy to a degree of competence. My Resto Druid might not be as good at tank healing, but I can heal whole groups with ease and still have some decent tank healing by maintaining HOTS and using Barkskin in emergencies.

Yeah I am actually worried about this nerf too. Like the OP said, this isn’t just a number adjustment to a spell. If we can’t reliably heal the tank with beacon, than we simply can’t use it. We don’t have the ability to do anything other than hard cast heal one person at a time, and if the tank is not being sustained by beacon it completely breaks our core gameplay loop as holy paladins.

I cancelled my subscription. This gives the team one month to reconsider the changes. In the meantime, I can continue to help out my raid team with BWL progress and just pass on loot. If lots of Holy players quit, maybe they’ll stop with the repeated nerf bat beatdowns. No point in paying for a service if feedback doesn’t matter.

nerfing holy pallies when warlocks are still literal raid bosses in pvp and nearly impossible to kill 1v1 for most other classes. how fun

I’m honestly amazed at how little understanding the devs seem to have for holy paladin. And how little they seem to care about learning. They even admitted to it after the first phases, but haven’t done anything even close to what they have for other specs and classes for holy pally since, outside of giving them beacon of light. and now they kill off that spell too, after a chain of nerfs after nerfs. all seemingly only informed by how much HPS output they have, completely ignoring the fact that that output is only really good for tank healing.

lmao they sneaked in a beacon of light nerfed at the last minute Activision never ceases to impress

why was the reason behind it anyways? our t2 set bonuses suck thralls. I had a blast throwing out flash of light and healing the raid while keeping tank up. hope i keep a raidspot

Wow… just when I hit 60. Thanks Blizzard.

On a side note Overload proc chance increased by 10% (60% was 50%). Powersurge should’ve have been increased as well.

Yeah, said this on another thread, repeating it here. You were absolutely correct. For heavy tank damage, you have no choice but to completely swap targets. We’ve somehow managed to regress 18 years of game design in one sudden patch change by completing misunderstanding why Beacon of Light was so important.

This is not going to be 25% in practice at all. You’re going to have situations where you’re not able to heal non-Beacon targets at all, completely crippling output. So now not only will the specialization be extremely weak for group healing, it will struggle to adequately perform the very niche it could perform with in P3-P4.

That will fix 'em good!

Blizz needs to revert it asap.

the dev team is tiny bc management is all about paying out dividends to investors so they are just hallowing out the company and burning out everyone in the company then taking loans against to make it fail and walking away with the max money.

The lack of people on fighting bots or having a dedicated team for each project and not half a dozen people for retail cata and sod/classic + while cranking out a new game breaking patch every month

and as a result its not that they dont care its that they will never have enough time to ever make a good product with this structure that management has put in place as they have a vulturous hungry ivory tower

Oh and don’t forget about the 6 set nerf too. The group heal part is no longer healing the beacon targets group. And this change was not listed in the patch notes.

Beacon is now to put on that rogue that just can’t not get cleaved or stand in stuff while you heal the tank. You know the guy, every raid has one. He’ll be so happy.
