I don’t really understand the continued focus (or I guess purpose in general) of this spell. Is this mostly a PvP spell? A questing-as-holy (why would you do that to yourself) spell? A ‘you can use this instead of burning vehemence blaze if you’re starved for points’ spell?
Holy
* Rhapsody now stacks every 1 second (was 2 seconds) and causes Holy Nova to deal 20% increased damage per stack (was 10%). This change will also affect PvP combat.
* Rhapsody now highlights Holy Nova while at 20 stacks. This change will also affect PvP combat.
I guess I might actually try it next week when I can take points back out of shackle (incoporeal) and mind control (spiteful AND incoporeal) and see how much damage it might do.
I usually take it in raids, won’t make much of your overall healing but it’s a nice little burst AOE Heal you can use, I let it charge-up then have an indicator when it’s fully or near-fully charged so I remember to use it.
Rhapsody feels like a bizarre spell because I, as a priest and a cloth-wearer, feel like I am doing something very, very wrong by running into melee and positioning myself so that I can hit as many mobs as possible - which means many of them are also in range to hit me, especially if the tank turned ever so slightly!
Rhapsody accounts for a decent chunk of damage in M+, even if the meta doesn’t require you to DPS as healer. It also heals a decent amount if you need another instant cast heal on the move. It’s like a second Divine Star. Try it out.
The main selling point to Rhapsody is that you’re incentivized to keep healing and doing other things rather than mashing Holy Nova every GCD. You press Nova every now and then and get a big hit thanks to Rhapsody. We are a little strapped for points on the left side of the tree in some weeks, but I swear by Rhapsody.
I enjoy rhapsody as well and figure I run into melee to scream at the mobs, might as well smack/heal a bit while I am there. It is pretty decent dps with big pulls if you spam it a bit too, even without it fully buffed.
Rhapsody in M+ is actually pretty decent because it’s an AOE ability to use inbetween Divine Star/Holy Fire.
For raid its nice as well because there’s a lot of fights on Mythic where the entire raid just sits in one spot. It does about 300k healing a cast and you can use it while moving around.
Rhapsody right now @ 20 stack makes my Holy Nova do 25194 per target on Holy. Post buff it’ll be double that and available every 20s. If you mash it at full stack each time it’s probably going to make Holy Nova our 2nd highest damage AOE ability.
I love using the spell when I use my dmg CD’s in M+, I actually out Dmg the DPS with it sometimes… not the most mana friendly ability to spam, but is kinda fun.
Not really sure what the healer dps charts are looking like atm. Holy Paladins are pretty far ahead of everyone due to Blessing of Summer and still will be even after its nerf.
Just want to pop in here and say that Caithyra is a unicorn. I am not sure how common it is to see a holy priest pull 40k+ overall in a high key. I am not fantastic and have only reached 22s but my overall dps is about half of theirs lol. Never even have come close, in high keys. Middle keys, sure. Anything over a 20 though, no way.
There’s a lot of people with higher dps parses than me on the leaderboard. Even seen logs of people doing 60k+ on Holy, but that was using Beacons. You just need to stack high haste/vers, get all the dps talents, and mash them on cd.
I have no idea. I play Disc too and it doesn’t feel miles better than Holy.
The best way to describe Disc compared to Holy is to remove every heal button except for Flash Heal, Renew, and PWS and replace Holy Fire with Mind Blast.
You literally have no spot healing or emergency group heal buttons. You have Pain Supression, Exaltation (lets you spam PWS), and Barrier. That’s about it.
Most of your healing is going to come from Radiance (big group heal) which applies Atonement and then you heal through doing dps spells. You can counter rot auras far easier than Holy, but if the groups health is spiking all over the place it’s a huge hassle to keep up since you have such a limited toolkit to respond.
Disc just overall does better when the groups cruise controlling through the dungeon because you can easily maintain a 100% uptime with group atonement and just dps the whole time not worrying about casting heals on the group. At that point you’re just a dps class that heals. However, you’re a dps healer that doesn’t do better dps than most of the other healing specs.
I have high haste and vers and I think I take a decent amount of dps talents. I am not consistent with glacial fury phials as I usually opt for vers phials. I should switch, I have a stupid amount of verse now I think. I sometimes have to hit a mana potion instead of a shocking disclosure pot.
I have thought about switching out my dragonscale for beacon for funsies but will see if I do.
I have already hit my personal dungeon goals so now I am just running keys for others to get portals/vault or playing alts.
60k is wild lol. But so is 40k. Kudos to all who pull that off, bet it is fun!
Ehh, I’d put this right up there with Essence Devourer as another tweak to try to give hpriest some healing-while-DPSing options. But yeah, unless they give us plate and a shield (and something more useful to do in melee), sprinting into melee range is never going to feel comfortable on priest. More useful in M+ but not sure this is the right design direction even there.
I wish they’d move Divine Word elsewhere in the tree and give it a DPS component on Divine Word: Sanctify (with Chastise remaining for single target) as an alternative, or maybe that component of the talent could be standalone.
On further thought (when my thought was basically “oh god, where am I supposed to fit Holy Nova on my bars”) does this count as another button bloat example? Someone said it feels like a second divine star, and conceptually it really does. I mean, they both damage and heal at the same time. And okay, Holy Nova doesn’t have a CD, but if you’re only pressing it every twenty seconds when Rhapsody is at max stacks, it basically is functioning like it has a CD.
I’m looking forward to playing with it tomorrow after hearing good things about it on this thread. But I’m glad I bought a mouse that has two more buttons for me to map hotkeys to, because I am absolutely out of room.
