I guess I haven’t really spent a lot of time in major cities this expansion but today I was pretty bored so I started doing laps around Oribos and man what in the heck happened to Trade Chat? Literally NOTHING but bots spamming websites with complete impunity not even worrying about linking their websites directly. I think out of 100 messages I saw maybe 1 that was legitimately selling something and another selling Heroic raid loot for gold. Pretty much every single post other than those two was bot spam.
It’s so bad I just literally left Trade Chat, which is actually the first time I’ve done that SINCE I BOUGHT THE GAME IN 2006. What in the world is happening to this game? I know we joke that Blizzard doesn’t care about bots anymore but at this point them just linking their websites being unafraid of getting auto banned by Blizzard bots is just unreal. I don’t even know what else to say, I’m speechless. Has this been a problem for a long time and I’m just noticing it now or has it gotten worse as of late?
dead servers, on the other hand, don’t have a single advertiser. i’m very alone on misha and occasionally someone will ask a game related question like where is the AH
My mains are on a “full” sever according to blizz. Meanwhile my trade has either be dead silent of used by the same 5 RMT sellers for the last 6 months… At this point I think it’s likely that the entire game is basically now 4 or 5 servers across the entire US region. Everything else is dead.
Do you think people should be happier with a trade chat where carry sale spam scrolls by so fast no conversation can take place or one where there is no one there to post messages of any sort?
I think its way past time that it be made against the rules to advertise paid runs using ingame chat. In fact, Id go so far as to say it might be worth considering disallowing paid runs completely.
Over the last few years a number of discord communities have been created to help players who aren’t able to do the content normally for various reasons take part in final boss raid fights for mounts and achiervements. Those groups do it for no gold, just for the fun of helping others. That is the kind of activity the game needs to foster, not the current system that promotes gold making and selling and even directs people to outside websites.n If it is against the rules to do it through the Premade system why is the same thing ok in trade chat?
Its way past time Blizzard steps up to do something about this both on the Classic and the retail game. One of the first things they need to do is bolster their community support team to track down and ban gold sellers, paid runs and bots. Make the game for the players, not for the gold farmers.
I used to feel it was ok to do paid runs but Im starting to feel it does more damage than good and its time to create a cooperative game environment and learn from other games that do it better than they do. Its time to up your game in more ways than one, Blizz.
Trade chat is where I actually met my most memorable guilds back in BC and LK so I don’t agree with this at all. I feel like spamming has been a problem in Trade for quite a few years but it was always a portion of trade chat, right now it’s literally 99% of everything, before it never really exceeded 50%.
I have noticed in Classic and TBC Classic trade chat has become a cesspool of toxicity, people arguing and attacking each other with a smattering of actual LFG and trading messages. Usually the scrolling is fast. It is much much worse in TBC Classic.
