Holding pattern until 9.1?

With 9.0.5 being a tuning patch are we in a story pause until 9.1 ? Has there been any solid clues when that might be ?

Yes, we are in a holding pattern. The common estimation is that 9.1 won’t be until early to mid Summer. Probably later rather than sooner because of COVID.

The 9.1 PTR should be going up any day now, however, and at that point we will know much more in terms of story details. And as the PTR is updated we tend to get more information rolling out over the following weeks in a drip feed.

We’ll know every boss in the raid and what most of them look like, for instance.

We’ll probably get the patch sometime in July and content will be drip fed over the course of August and September. Of course if the Dataminers are worth their salt we’ll know all about the story beats well before then.

Unless Blizzard hard encrypts events like they did with “The Reckoning” cinematic that was focused on the Mak’gora between Sylvanas and Saurfang. I’m expecting the Sylvanas defeat cinematic to be hard encrypted because Blizzard would be that committed to wanting that one as a surprise until the patch goes live.

Yeah, the release of the Shadowlands Grimoire that I purchased during Blizzzconline is postponed until late August. I would imagine that we would get that lore piece to correspond with a 9.1 release so late summer is potentially on target. Not sure if this is normal. I remember in the past there not being this much time between content.

I personally am getting antsy for new story content.

honestly, they leaked their own Blizzconline press package, at this point I don’t think the have the same priorities as they did before this post-covid world. They will probably be happy if they can just get the content out there.

I do think Blizz is getting better at throwing curveballs at them, though.

Many people were convinced San’Layn were going to be the next Horde AR because the dialogue sure did seem to broadcast that harder than the bat signal.

But then it turned out that was in regards to an Alliance war campaign storyline that if anything seemed to exterminate the San’Layn, presumably to clear the way for the more proper Draculas with the Venthyr.

I think summer is an unrealistic expectation. Everything they talked about at Blizzcon was what they had “planned” and their “ideas” for 9.1 and they literally had no in game assets to show, not even single models or landscapes, let alone questlines and gameplay. Which implies they were literally just starting development on it. I wouldn’t expect 9.1 until Fall, or more likely Winter.

I’ve see Models in the pictures as plain as day as well as pictures of Korthia and the new Torghast additions so it isn’t just plans!
