Was in BRD last night. Seen a holy pally win the HOJ roll.
In a state of panic, he whispered me to tell me HOJ wasn’t in his inventory. I had already reset dungeon. He apparently rolled need before releasing spirit, but released spirit before he won the roll. Personally feels like instant karma. Does anyone know if a GM would give him the HOJ in the mail if he opened a ticket?
If he won the roll most likely yeah. This doesn’t really sound like something that you can help with in any way so i’d just brush it off and let the player and the gms handle it.
I think OP is saying he’s happy the healadin didn’t get the best in slot melee trinket until Naxx over the other melee that we’re in the group and needed it.
Maybe he was specced into heals just for dungeons so he could get a group, even though he’s really a ret paladin end game. Lots of us have/are doing this. Plus if all 5 people in the group rolled need then idk why it’s an issue that the paladin got it. This whole post sounds more like the OP is jelly that an ‘inferior’ class/spec got the item he wanted.
Paladins might not be top tier dps, no one is saying they are. but MC and Ony are pretty easy and lots of guilds are letting paladins run as ret. check boss parses and you’ll probably be surprised at ho many dps paladins you find.
I’ve always viewed the loot system at max level (because everyone fears for dps while leveling, even healers) where you should only need on something if it’s for the spec that you’re currently in the group as, or if you announce at the beginning of the run that you’re going to be rolling as Ret instead of holy.
We heal dungeons because we are pretty much forced to do so for groups. I will absolutely be rolling on certian plate and 2h weapons even if I am a holy hybrid spec. To hell with your elitist “you must only be a healer forever and roll on healer gear”
Ill play what gets me a group. My spec is a holy ret hybrid. If they want dps cool. If they want healer cool. But just because i heal doesn’t mean i am going to roll on healer gear. I don’t want it.
If the dude won the roll and the item isn’t in his bags it’s possible that the item is now in his mail. That’s happened to me in the past several times. Also if he did indeed win the roll and he doesn’t have the item in his bag or mail it’s very probable a GM can fix it, he and only he has to open a ticket. I’ve have that happen in the past too.
Then just tell the group you’re going to be rolling as mains spec Ret and the problem is solved. Most people don’t mind you doing it as long as you say what you’re doing before you just start hitting need on things. You’re right, people do it all the time. There’s just a right way and a wrong way to do it.
As far as being “forced” to be a healer, I hope no one is holding a gun to your head making you play WoW. If you hate healing that much, just make your own groups or make friends that will let you play as Ret. You’ll never top the charts as Ret, but you can do respectable damage, and your support abilities are top tier, so you can definitely earn your spot in the group.
