This isn’t off topic…
She gets royalties for the game because the game is set in a universe she created and owns.
The reality people don’t want to accept is that boycotting the game because a fragment of revenue goes into royalties to JK Rowling, if people were to even succeed with a boycott (it won’t for several reasons), is that it won’t impact her in the slightest. The worst she stands to lose from the game flopping is nothing, and the game succeeding is adding on top of an already hefty amount of yearly income she gets off of royalties alone. The only people who actually lose anything here are the company making the game and the people working at the company, but I guess some people see others’ jobs and lives as worthwhile kindling for a pointless fire.
How is harry potter not off topic
I’m a bitter, lonely old man. If I can irk even one virtue signaling moppet, I’m content.
I will say, I understand why it’s a tempting thought for people. People don’t like being told what to do or think. Being called x or y name for even thinking about doing something tends to actually spur more people to do it than having a rational conversation.
housing in mmorpgs is always awful
forever and always
I wouldn’t be able to play that game with a straight face because I would just be blurting out
" Wingardium Leviosaaaaaaaa…" xD and laughing like crazy.
True but also it is too late. Modern Blizzard would gate this behind too many things, the #1 thing being that it would be required for you to buy like 40 WoW tokens to own a room of a house probably, with nothing in it of course.
Be careful what you wish for.
It’s not about HP, it’s about player housing in WoW. The OP was doing a comparison.
You know this. Don’t play ignorant.
lol… or you know its the newly released game and all the streamers are soaking in the free money…? not being the most viewed because of housing folks
Ah cool
I can just make a thread titled after anything and talk about it as long as I throw a line about wow in there
I will be honest. I watched the HP Legacy trailer and I have no clue what the point of the game is.
It stands for trans exclusionary radical feminist.
The trans exclusionary radical part is pretty self evident. JK does not support trans women.
There is some debate as to whether or not TERF’s really are a type of feminist or not. I’ll leave that up for you to decide. But the gist of a TERF ideology is pretty much built off of cis women’s issues eclipsing trans womens issues.
It is by definition exclusionary and that’s where the controversy comes from.
Supposedly there are a group of people that harass people who stream the game. For the record, and just so we’re all on the same page, i don’t support that. I don’t need to explain why.
That said, it’s controversial because the game is tied to JK’s name, whos politics I can only describe are reductive and maligned.
People who are suddenly buying the game because they agree with those same reductive maligned politics
are hella weird.
To be a wizard…Akston
If people are getting told they’re x, y and z names because they don’t necessarily agree with one hardline or another, or for even CONTEMPLATING buying a game, you’re inevitably going to push people into buying the game out of spite.
That’s not weird. That’s human nature. People push back against being directly told to do something or directly being insulted for no reason.
You support a company that enabled the belittlement and sexual assault of women, but now you’re up in arms about a diff game bc of some things JK Rowling said? LOL
Get off your high horse man
Gonna be honest with you, I don’t think a housing feature is what is drawing people to the new hogwarts game.
It miiiight be because it’s an open world game set in a universe that many of us grew up with and have nostalgia for.
