Hi all,
Been playing Outlaw since TWW started. No real Rogue experience since WotLK. So all of it has been new to me.
Pretty much exclusively played HO up this point. I feel pretty comfortable with the rotation and the concept of the build. However, I see that KiR is “better” by some degree according to sources online / people I’ve ran into.
What is your take on the builds, and how does the rotation differ?
What makes KiR different than HO (other than the obvious, your bones stay rolling longer).
Thanks!
I think KiR is only better in theory and on paper. In an encounter with swirls and mechanics trying to kill you, with less than 100% uptime, HO is more efficient.
KiR is only better in a patchwork fight where you stand still and have 100% uptime with no mechanics to dodge.
I dunno, my experience only. Your mileage may vary.

Kir is substantially better in aoe (in the ballpark of 8-10%) and moderately better in ST (~4% now depending on ur gear).
Its obviously more gear limited because you need to put together a good profile with 18-20% haste (with a flask or without).
KiR is also much easier to pull off in aoe then it is ST as deft maneuvers does an insane amount of heavy lifting for it compared to HO where you can even drop deft in aoe builds.
Realistically, KiR is quite a bit harder to pull off on ST which is why it doesnt really outperform HO in anything but the tippy top logs. In AOE id definitely say the gap is large enough and kir easy enough to pull off to be worth learning though.

Opener:
Adrenaline Rush → Roll the Bones → Ghostly Strike → Between the Eyes …
That’s according to wowhead. Do I cast Keep it Rolling right after I roll the bones during the opener, or no? It looks like the suggested use of Keep It Rolling is during times when you have good buffs already, then you Roll the Bones again.
Someone post a dummy proof version of opener + rotation, please.
Thanks!
There is alot of nuance to the use of keep it rolling, but the easiest rule I can give you which gets you to 90% of the power of the ability is press KiR when you will extend 4 or more buffs.
If you want to see more info on additional min maxes and rules you can play with for more gains, I’d highly recommend the rogue discord outlaw FaQ. Many people in here will tell you the rogue discord is a toxic cesspool… I’d disagree strongly there but even if you don’t want to interact with the community on discord, the FaQ posted there is more indepth then other guides (the wowhead guide is actually based on the FaQ).

It’s also worth noting that unless you are pushing bleeding edge content you can slough the complexity of KiR entirely and take things like Greenskin’s Wickers with HO instead and not lose much in the long term - particularly given the added complexity and knowledge gate of KiR.
