I get that there’s sites likes Ironforge and such, but I also know that data is sometimes old/out-dated
I probably won’t play Cata Classic since I think it was a meh expansion - but just in case I change my mind later (…or if TWW turns out to be boring) I figured I would make some “name holder” level 1 alts to reserve some names
Just to be clear: this post is about Wrath Classic/Cata Classic specifically, I don’t play Era or SOD due to playtime constraints/spreading myself too thin. So no need to mention Era or SOD servers since I don’t play over there
Bene for Alliance and Faerlina for Horde will almost certainly remain populated till the end of time, at this point. Other servers tend to see population fluctuations over time, related to how recent content dropped. Which is expected, if people finish content, they’re going to take a break until there’s something new. The 2 servers I mentioned are just so large that people temporarily leaving isn’t noticeable.
That being said, both of them will have untold amounts of competition for things in the open world, so pick your poison I suppose. Or reserve your names on multiple servers and check back later.
Answer was in the question. That said, if you don’t trust websites that track entire realm populations, I don’t know why you’d trust random folks from a forum either.
I had a good time on both Faerlina H and Grobb A. Fun times, not much to complain about as far as servers go. Queue times at the start didn’t really bother me. Dropping populations now at the end are exactly as expected, not much can be done about it really. I got to do everything the game had to offer from both servers.
Can’t speak to Benediction A, but I can’t imagine it’d be much different. Grobb was better when the expansion was still poppin, but if you’re prepping for specifically Cata going forward, I’d say the safest bet is Faerlina H.
