I didn’t realize anybody was panicking about the mage tower, especially since it’s been gone for two years.

I just imagined a scenario where someone unknowingly bids gold cap for one of the truly fugly mt skins, like BM or subtlety.

Eh, I’d rather it not be tied to how well you can farm gold. Instead, I’d like it more if old challenges were brought back but retuned. Maybe as a brief seasonal thing that could be tweaked to fit the current playstyles of the game. Considering how M+ is a thing now, I could see them bringing back things like Challenge Modes for Mists and Warlords.

Exclusivity is cool and all but definitely not all it’s hyped up to be. The Crimson Pandaren Phoenix is one of my favorite mounts, and people ask me “Hey, where did you get that?”, and it sucks telling them it’s from a challenge the devs felt should be taken out of the game. I don’t feel cool for having something people can’t obtain by virtue of it being removed. I’d feel cooler if it were something that was still obtainable, but just a lot harder to get.

IDK, I guess lately it feels like CM sets and the Mage Tower weapons speak more to seniority and susceptibility to FOMO tactics than it does to my skill in the game.

Like 99% of them were fugly.
Only 2 I bothered with were laser kitty and hulk bear.

Agreed. I have all kinds of 1% drop rate mounts and items like Invincible, Ashes of Al’ar, etc. They’re rare enough to be somewhat exclusive, without being impossible for other people to acquire. Also you have to put effort into grinding them out, rather than just happening to be around during a specific time window.

They could bring back mage tower updated with a equivalent difficulty if they really wanted to. Making it a one time thing was lame. It could’ve been a permanent game feature with new appearances added every expac. But nope, gotta have that FOMO exclusivity.
