Not an alt, just hit lvl 80 from various activities in the isle of dorn and dungeons and such. Got ilvl 606 right away buying cheap stuff on the AH and doing timewalking dungeons.
What content should I actually focus on? Im not incredibly worried about the story, I just want to hit anything mandatory and get to current 11.1 content. I can go back and clear stuff for fun after.
I assume I want to finish at least the main campaign questline.
Is there any reason to go to siren isle after?
What else?

If you do the Siren Isle questline, you’ll get a 658 ring.
With the currency you earn on Siren Isle, there’s also gear you can buy from a vendor on the isle. Forgot the ilvl though.
For campaign, you don’t need to do the 11.0 campaign to do the Undermine stuff, but you will need to finish the levelling campaign (the story campaign going through all 4 zones).
There’s also a questline to unlock the Earthen race if you’re interested.

Nah the gear on Siren Isle is pretty low now, The Ring is def still worth it though.
100%. I am still using it on all my characters, even my most geared DK.

Depends on what you like doing, group or solo. If you like group activity, there’s dungeons and the raid. If not, you can spam Delves and get access to the Great Vault for gear.
Like others said, get the Ring from Siren Isles.
From there, do the Undermine storyline. It’ll finish with a quest where you’re asked to kill Gallywix for a Crest that lets you craft an item at 658ilvl. You can talk to the quest giver and he’ll port you into an NPC version of the fight that will give you credit to this quest. You will want to craft a Staff.
From there, you’ve got enough gear to move into either Delves, Normal Raiding or M+. M+ might be a bit of a struggle just because it’s hard to get into groups as a DPS. But essentially your goal is to get items to turn into tier pieces to get your 4p ASAP. You’re basically on the seasonal treadmill at this point where you do content to get more gear to do more content.

I’ll second Siren Isle for Cyrce’s Circlet, finishing the story quests, and delves.

In addition to what others have said, do the Nightfall stuff if you can. The reward bags from dailies give S2 vet gear and the once a week main event (if it doesn’t bug out and not complete) will give you a token for one Champion item.
Delves as high as you can. Since you are a mage, you will probably struggle through S7 at low gear levels but try anyway as S7 bountiful delves drop champion gear at the end. Use Brann as healer and stagger your intake of the healing potions he drops to avoid overhealing and maximize the HoT duration and healing done. Good luck.

Yah well, when you just turn 80 and you’re in 600 auction house gear, you can only manage doing tier 5 delves for purple veteran armor.
My Modus Operendi on a new 80 , is to unlock the special assignment world quests as much as possible , to get delve keys, to do tier5 bountifuls, then you can go kill Galliwix.
Siren isles is pretty much dead, armor vendor only has useless gray 584 armor.
Granted you wont get a 648 ring from delves, but I find I get some nice 626 rings that have almost as much stam AND critical strike , which the Siren Isles ring doesn’t have, before leveling them with valorstones.
Unless they update the Legacy gear on the SI vendor, I don’t see a point in going there anymore.
Get the slots for the vault and eventually you will find your rhythm with what to do next. It took me a few weeks when I started but it will start to make sense once you start engaging with the content.
Yes, if you manage it correctly , completing the special assignments unlock a vault slot as well, So you actually get 1, piece of armor( or weapon) from the assignment cache and 1 from the vault , for doing 1 event.
Last weeks weekly was ( might still be) wordsoul quest was to complete 1 delve, which gives you a cache chest reward.
So the special assignment , gives you a delve key , that opens a chest on the delve , that drops a veteran item, which you also get a veteran item for completing the worldsoul event .
I have been getting 4 pieces of veteran armor without leaving Isle of dorn this week, in about 45 minutes of play.

run the weekly quests, including the machine maintenance in ringing deeps.
do any delve quests that give you a pinnacle chest.
I think all of these have the chance to drop sparks from which you can craft 658 gear. make a weapon and then your jewelry. you can’t catalyze crafted gear into tier pieces. so make sure you craft things like wrist, boots and/or cloak. but definitely weapon first.
and although I think the nightfall patch is very underwhelming, there are various caches that drop during the event and from mobs you need to kill for the related quests. some of these chaces have decent catch up gear in the 626-632 range iirc.
I agree that the siren isle ring is worth the ~30 minutes or so to farm.
spam timewalking dungeons, do LFR, run heroics, run m0 dungeons.
if you are looking for story line things to do for gear, I would focus on the undermine. I think most of the rewards there will be a big improvment over 606 ilevel.
How about what you want. What you enjoy.

You can clear T11 delves at 584 or less as a frost mage.
Just stick to T8 with healer Brann for easy mode champion gear.
If I were a single char player with a fresh lvl 80, I’d clear Siren Isle for the ring, all bountiful T8 delves, then turn WM on and farm Dragonflight air drops for Tokens/Conquest while pushing BG Blitz for Conquest Gear (Champion).
If it was TW week, I’d do that, specially if it has a raid, doubly so it it’s TBC (Black Temple TW is easy mode). Wrath (Ulduar) is a slog, Cata (Firelands) is no joke.
Finally, I’d focus on alchemy/inscription + herb for gold.
Siren Isles to get your ring that can be upgraded to 658. Aviod focusing on anything else in that zone that gives you gear, it is from last season.
Look for two zones that have a locked World Quest Icon, do the required amount of World Quests to unlock that quest, then complete it, to get a pinnacle cache. The first 2 caches you receive each week contain a random piece of Veteran track gear.
Undermine story ending that will give you a quest to Defeat Gallywix at any difficulty (pop into LFR) rewarding you with a crafting item that will allow you to craft a 658 item.
Do the Weekly Nightfall event in Hallowfall for token that you then can purchase a piece of champion gear. Do the 3 different Daily quests from the same NPC that reward you with a piece of Veteran track gear. There are plenty of other players doing those daily quests, item level 606 is fine to be part of the swarm of people doing them.
Honestly, what ever you like…
You can farm, fish, do pvp, run M+, go raiding, there is a literal game world of things to do.
In the words of digital underground… “dowhachayalike”
