Highmountain's tauren, some questions?

Please be aware I am new to the game:

Doing some simple maths seems alike the old tauren and new one, i just find the new one to be better tank, am I wrong?.

I would like to know before grinding 100 levels. I am a little bit disappointed after grinding Highmountain tauren for a week.

Can you suggest me in which way the new Tauren should be the most pick?. I am heading to pve and later PvP.

with that Eternal grind i would have geared a character or leveled to 120 x2 chars.

I am so tired about having to level it until 120 lv; I am thinking about a character boost as you get free gear, but i am worry about Heritage Armo, can I get it if I do the boosting?

Non-English Speaker.

Highmountain tauren have: Rugged Tenacity is a passive racial ability for all highmountain tauren , reducing damage taken. Reduces damage taken by (Stamina * 0.0003 * 20).

regular Tauren have: 2% crit. 5% hp a stun and a little nature resist.

I like the old tauren better imo.

I haven’t done the maths for all passive between them, but I sometimes think the old one is still better.

I am hoping to get some answers before starting the grind, was ridiculous long.

The racials aren’t going to make a difference for you in 99.99% of cases. And statistically speaking, you aren’t some cutting edge mythic raider. Don’t worry about min/maxing just because guides and youtube videos tell you that you have to. PICK WHAT YOU LIKE

They’re pretty similar tbh, I think even at min/maxing levels the difference is so little that it hardly matters.
I do prefer the stun skill on the regular tauren though, more predictable and easier to use.

Bull rush is very useful.

Level boosting does not reward you the heritage armor, you need to level from 20 to 120 yourself.

Core Tauren are better healers AND Tanks.

And plus you get more customization options  (okay i might have a vendetta for highmountain)

If you are a DPS in PVE/PVP i would suggest to look for something else.

I like both races of Tauren for reasons beyond their racials.

I do have to say though, I have played a regular Tauren for so long that I really miss Warstomp.

Edit: if you are concerned about the heritage armor for High Mountain, the easiest route is make a Death Knight and take advantage of the last week of the double xp event.

The extra stun is fairly handy.

lol I did not understand, why a DK? better?
I created one and is level 64 and I really like him. stopped leveing to grind the HMT and I am not sure about what is next.

Oh sorry. Because they begin at 58, so it puts you 38 levels closer to 110.

oh you meant a DK of HMT, got it!

Original Tauren do not have 2% extra crit. They do 2% additional damage when they critically strike.

If you’re talking about PvP, Highmountain’s racial Bull Rush is better than normal tauren’s Warstomp. Having an extra charge (with a stun attached to it too) is incredible as an engage or an escape.

In PvE, both are fairly equal, although you’ll have to be more careful of when and where to use Bull Rush so you don’t accidentally pull more mobs.

If you want the heritage armour you CANNOT USE A BOOST! It needs to be leveled normally. However, you can still use heirlooms and experience bonus potions to speed it up.

I also recommending queueing up for Timewalking dungeons when they are available. They give a large amount of exp on completion, much moreso than normal dungeons.

The amount of mechanics you can dodge with bull rush in PVE more than makes up for it.

Mmm, it still kind of evens out for me, as someone who raids and does m+. It’s incredible in raid, don’t get me wrong. But I’ve had to hold off on using it so many times in M+ because of how tight the rooms can be, or used it anyway and pulled an extra pack by accident.

When I was still as HM Tauren, I’d solely use it to dodge boss mechanics or knock down packs.
Just keep a distance from the tank’s pack and charge in for X reason, specially if there’s a bunch of casts about to go off at once.
That way if you are to charge you know you’ll only go as far as you need to hit the pack.

Not always an option especially if you’re melee and can’t run back when you need the stun to interrupt a cast immediately (eg, worms’ infest in WCM), and definitely not an option if you’re the tank like the OP wants to be.

Either way, those are my opinions. If you or the OP feel you can mitigate that risk in M+, or the more power to y’all. Heck, for all we know, OP wouldn’t even do much M+, which we’d then unanimously agree that HMT would be the better choice if so.

I mean, that’s a fair point. For some reason my brain didn’t realise we were talking melee specs.
Yes, bull rush as melee can be iffy, though as a mainly ranged player I’ve had great success with bull rush. Perhaps another avenue the OP could consider.

Id go with a regular one so you don’t have to do the long annoying grind. Plus my understanding they are unlocking allied races when SL drops anyways. Could always race change then or roll another. By then you might be ready to level another toon.

The stat difference is insignificant, pick the one you like to look at.
