Highmountain Tauren Priests

Highmountain Tauren and Lightforged Draenei each have extremely limited class options.

HM tauren should be able to be priests.

Why:
-Currently, they have no class available that uses cloth.
-More class/race combos is a huge win for an MMORPG, where player choice is paramount
-It is consistent with the lore that HM revere An’she, the sun, as seen in their NPC greetings.

9.1.5 with it’s incredible customization updates is the perfect occasion to flesh out the race by giving them another (cloth, finally) class to enjoy.

Talk about it in the next meeting, guys!

Right now they are just boring vanilla tauren with alternate horns. Having them just be tauren with different horns is still boring. Adding priests does nothing to change that.

They should be rogues (stalker themed race) and mages (they joined the horde alongside the nightborne, they should have a similarly close relationship) Perhaps even warlocks and demon hunters if they reintegrate the bloodtotem.

My understanding with Highmountain Tauren is that they have never seen “the light” like regular Tauren have and never will see it.

That is why they cannot be cloth wearing classes.

This is what Allied races should have been used for. To add in classes to races that the original ones didn’t have access too.

This is honestly a great suggestion and would really make them stand out from the core race.

HM Tauren and LFD have access to rogues. HM Tauren like Cur suggested are stalkers and LFD could be Lightforged Rangari.

Warlocks are also easy HM Tauren it’s former Blood Totem that defected and use Fel magic to fight back much like the original warlock concept. LFD could work if the flavor lore for them was Lightforged Man’ari that subjugate demons into service with the light.

I’ve said exactly this, and that the only races they did it right with are Dark Iron and Zandalari is pretty depressing. Can you imagine mechagnome and mag’har paladins? Both of which better fit the theme of these particular races than the existing priests do.

I got bored awhile ago. Still have the text file but I don’t want to copy paste spam too much so here is the link to the actual topic.

Mag’har paladins wouldn’t really fit. They’d probably hate paladins, if anything, if you’ve done their scenario you’d see why.
They’re another case like Forsaken where their priests would be primarily shadow.

Mechagnome druids… now we’re talking. Robo cats, bears and crit chickens? Ohhhh baby! Make a whole beast wars themed guild with the little guys haha.

Yes. Exactly my first class race combo for these two. HMT and LFD are just more good guy versions of the original races and it was a huge let down over all.

I mean, Paladins are a weird class in WoW because it is the one that often is going by paladin for game reasons and not lore reasons. Sun walkers, Blood Knights, Rezen’s chosen, and Paladin are all under the name paladin. (my biggest gripe with class halls in legion)

But beyond that if they had gone with the idea to provide the races with classes that the core races don’t have access to they could have written it in a way that it wouldn’t be something they hate.

I’ll go the other way and actually advocate for them to be warlocks. That’s a significant class that regular tauren don’t have access to, utilizes cloth as an armor type, would do a lot to differentiate the two races much like how Kul Tirans get to be shaman and druids, and we can justify it in lore by saying they’re former POWs or dissidents from the Feltotem (Bloodtotem) tribe.

They literally worship the sun, An’she, which is the source of the light power Tauren paladins use.
So… yeah you’re not correct about that.

Anyway, gameplay reasons, they should have a cloth class.

Also, as a priest is a profession/role in a society, AKA a set of skills, there isn’t any reason a race couldn’t be one.

A Bloodtotem warlock would be a cool option, true.
Would fulfill the gap of having 25% of all transmogs in the game unavailable to Highmountain players.

Did this really need 2 identical topics?

I’ve done it. They have the same reason to hate priests. The difference between priests and paladins is the difference between restoration and enhancement shamans. Blizzard just decided to have 2 classes in the case of priests and paladins. Probably because the mechanical and itemization differences make them an unlikely match for someone who is used to these common fantasy paradigms outside of the warcraft universe. Imagine you roll a priest in a game and find out your dps spec uses a different armor, weapon, and is melee instead of ranged.
