Wondering since all the sites have different charts, which class\spec do you guys think currently has the highest DPS?
I’m sure it differs depending on single target (raid), aoe (m+), or pvp…but having pugged many keys my eye test tells me for m+ it’s bm hunter, DH, and frost dk…if I had to pick one i’d pick bm hunter…they always top the charts.
I don’t know, but probably not aug evoker.
Devourer Demon Hunter.
In patch 12.1, anyhow, b/c they’re such trash now that Blizzard will overbuff them to compensate. ![]()
I always thought a newly released spec/class was always tuned to be S-tier the first season of its release…is that literally always true or just what happens usually?
Historically, it has been mostly true.
…not sure why they’re going a different direction on beta for DDH this time around.
Thanks for these replies guys!
Which is the best for delves in your opinions?
I think it wasn’t true for Monk, but Monk is also the only one that didn’t get the “Hero Class” start near max level treatment at their release (not so much a thing right now but, still).
In the sporadic time I’ve played I’m not sure I’ve ever seen any monk spec be OP…which seems kind of odd considering it has both a healing and tanking spec.
Any tank is invincible in delves. Demo lock strolls through with ease as well.
The highest DPS spec is the one you can master playing. Knowing the rotation and when to use what ability is going to get you farther than what rank they are, as they are within a few percent of each other for the most part.
Unless we’re talking about theoretical with bots playing.
It all depends on what ball the dolphins retrieve from the tank.
ret paladin
this is the best answer.
this discussion reminds me of the meme video ages ago about “what is the best hunter pet?” because the player wanted to “make rogues bleed out of their an@s.”
unless you are in significantly coordinated groups pushing true endgame content, play what you like and what you feel good at.
some people prefer ranged, some melee. some people like very complex rotations, while some like straighforward rotations.
even within a class there is variation.
I am a very mediocre mage, but I have a strong preference for arcane, even when fire or frost might be better on the sims.
Probably my favorite and longest standing DPS class is warlock. I have a strong preference for afflcliction but it doesn’t really feel good in M+ (even in low keys). I enjoy destruction and my big green fire. the aoe burst lines up well in m+ and I like the single target rotation too. however, i think demonology is technically the highest potentional DPS. I just don’t care for the spec. In the 2-4 key range I am playing him in, none of that matters. I do what I like.
The answer to that question will never be consistent or even really accurate either… various different factors in every bit of content changes which class/spec is highest DPS for that content… typically however, classes with a high quantity of instant cast abilities that they can use while moving tend to be the most consistently high DPS. However, casters are usually at the top of DPS charts when they can sustain their casts without interruption for long periods… and of course the variable of AoE or single target can swing many extremely low ST DPS classes/specs to the very top of the charts in AoE DPS and vice versa…
's that a joke? Ret hasn’t actually been on top since… what, ICC in WotLK?
If Ret isn’t literally in last place, people whine about it. …even when it IS in last place people whine about it.
Anything plate, or tank-specced.
Haven’t thought about that in years. Such a good video.
Any class/spec. can do fine in delves, but especially all tank specs are easy, as are pet specs with pets that can tank (Warlock, Hunter). Non-pet casters have to take it slower than other classes until they get geared, imo.
Any tank you can control, Ret, Demo, BM, and Shadow would be my picks.
