They have a surprise for us next patch so that’ll probably change.

Mage or Warlock are often pretty safe, usually one of them will have a spec near the top.
Nobody knows, and if they try to tell you they do they are clueless.
Your best bet as a dps player is to pick mage/rogue/hunter/lock as they each have 3 dps specs and more often then not, 1 of the 3 specs will be in a good place.
There’s 100% going to be multiple tuning patches between now and raid opening so it’s not possible to answer this question yet.
Flavor of the month rerollers will always be bad at their classes so you should just play what you want and not worry so much

Not to mention solid valuable utility that gets them taken even when they aren’t the best pick.
I dunno, it hasn’t worked too well for Monk for most of their history, they’ve just been left bugged and still below average

Icy veins has WW monk as the top DPS alongside havoc I believe for 10.0.2.
Ret paladin for sure. They are so over tuned you basically don’t even need to bring a healer or tank. Just 5 rets instead.

Its very much guesswork atm as hard to know what the final numbers tweaks till be just before the raid opens.
WW will be decent at worst in M+ as its a solid aoe dps, Unholy looks like it will be in a tier of its own again for M+ with wounds build.
Set bonuses dont look like they will shake up the meta much as they dont seem to create feedback loops.
Atm balance will be largely based on who can get the most from the fights (Evoker dps will be great in high keys due to infinite scaling but bad in lower keys because nothing will live long enough).
Season 2 is more of a concern as set bonuses are likely to carry more weight and shift the meta around a bit.

Your class was top DPS in Vanilla and that was from 2004- 2007. 
oh wow looking over 2 years is good point… now if i think about it warlock is top dps in every raid by far in entire SL (9.0 aff lock, 9.1 9.2 demo, destro/demo always pump in mythic+) hmm. I guess
For anyone who says fun > meta, i literally don’t know where fun is when i press 2x buttons dealing half damage lol. Imagine playing enchance during 9.2 vs playing surival… enchance needs to tab target and use lava lash, spread flame shock, and never burst over 200k while on surival i just kyrian → bomb + kill command lol
What is the mean average ?rank one player doesn’t speak to 100 % of the playerbase, otherwise 100% of all dps in SL would be warlocks- Not true
Fun is Subjective , nobody expects you to literally know what each and every player in the world from US to AU to understand what fun is . Just know that your fun is not everyone fun and if you start discriminating others based on their fun that makes you a meta slave.
