How do you make higher ceilings?
Level up your Home and use bigger rooms. Or alternatively, you can choose the Stair Room (empty) and place your own ceiling as high as you want. ![]()
You can make vaulted ceilings by selecting the Decorating/Customize tool (3), then clicking on the ceiling. It’ll bring up options. You can do the same for walls and floor, though it will only do it one section at a time unless you click “use this style for the whole room.” You also have to then do it for every room.
I am at max Housing level, is there a way to double the ceiling height? The largest room available as of now is still the same height as all the others. (aside from the stairway room)
I dont see an option to double up two rooms on top of one another and removing the floor/ceiling between them.
I was hoping for a grand entrance with high ceilings but the large room is too low and the stairway room (no stairs) is too small.
Keep in mind we’re capped at Housing level 5 and still in Early Access. Not everything is available to us yet.
I am aware. I was mostly just confused why the Stairway room has the option to expand up but other rooms do not. I understand that its a stairway room and thats its purpose but I would think that the option should extend to other rooms, especially ones that are larger than the stairway room itself.
I.e. making a large room with double the height and making your own stairs.
I’ve tried this, and I don’t see any options that will make the ceiling actually higher. You can make the beams different, and some are smaller so they don’t sit down in the room as far, but none of the ceilings are actually higher. My house is level 5.
Exactly! I wish in the future we get the same for all current room types.
I want a large octagonal room but twice as high.
Not sure. This was one of the first features I found the day housing came out, and I only have a level 2 house. When I use the Customize tool on the ceiling of most rooms I get three options: Ceiling Style, Ceiling Material, Ceiling Type (Normal/Vaulted).
Some smaller rooms won’t have the last option for vaulted ceilings, like hallway, cross, tiny, or stairwell. But most of the square or octagon rooms should have it. And it definitely does raise the beams/ceiling if you choose vaulted. Or maybe it’s different for Horde housing? I have only been using Alliance.
Okay thanks! This was the issue, I was trying it in the wrong room type.
To set the empty staircase, make sure that you are moving up a floor. I went to the second floor to set it.
Still it would be nice to have a 2 story room for each of the existing types.
Very much agree. I would love to have just two Large Hexagonal Rooms that can be their own Tower and I can add my own stairs to! ![]()
To my knowledge, this isn’t possible. I’ve seen some really cool raised entrances, however their setup involved one of the skybox rooms. The skybox rooms have an extremely high ceiling once they release in Midnight.
These rooms are very versatile, however at the moment they don’t offer expansions to other rooms. If you used it as your entry way, you wouldn’t be able to expand the house any further.
This user is a great example of how high the ceilings can go in a skybox room:

Until Midnight releases, there’s so way to do something of this scale, though.
I do hope that higher ceilings becomes an option.
Is there a way to request housing features in the future? Id love a large open box to play around with on my own rather than being forced to use rooms.
I would very much like to recreate the Hufflepuff Common Room from Howarts Legacy but with our ceilings being so low even when vaulted it’s near impossible to do or at least my limited brain can’t think of ways to achieve it.
I believe it would blend really well with the Night Elf Druid anesthetic.
Hopefully someone finds a way to make it so I can copy the results ![]()

Additional sizes and/or shapes for “stair room empty" would be nice!
A vaulted generic ceiling is about 30% higher than the flat ceilings in any square or octagon room. The space is useable, too.
The empty stairwell room is about twice as high as the equivalent square room.
I almost jumped out of my chair. I keep finding out things I didn’t know and getting frustrated seeing other people’s homes and I have no idea how they did it. Your informative post is so helpful for me. Thank you so much.
I’m such a slow learner and really appreciate information other people post. ![]()
