Ever since the maintenance on Wednesday I’ve had much higher world latency on almost all servers, while my home latency still sits at about 30. I normally play on Thrall, and my world latency before would be around 30-40, now it goes over 100. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
Yes, except mine goes all the way to 2000ms world, while home is 40ms. I basically can not play the game.
It’s been an issue for many people - there are several threads about it but Blizzard has yet to address it.
Having the same issue, world ms about 50-100 higher than usual. Went through the normal steps and made sure it wasn’t a physical connection issue or with my isp. Seems to be a blizzard server specific issue.
Also having the same issue on Wrath Classic. World latency approaches almost 300 MS in the evenings while Home is around 30-50.
I just noticed too now that it’s only in retail and I’m having no latency problems in classic. Nothing has changed on my end, just 10.0 and the problems starting after maintenance this week. Frustrating for sure, I just wanna play the game.
I’ve been having some rather high latency problems since then. It jumps to 1-2000ms in world and my home is perfectly fine in a 76-100ms. Makes doing the world bosses a bit tricky, will say that much.
I do wonder if this is related to all the downloading Dragonflight that is going on. The amount of players that are backround down loading is massive. Has to be a strain on the servers im guessing.
I’ve also been having issues on certain realms while other realms are fine. It’s becoming incredibly irritating because it also occurs in things like battlegrounds and such. Trying to PvP as a melee with suddenly 50-100 more MS than usual is insane, and the issue isn’t on my end. I’ve checked everything.
Hi all, I think I found the issue that was causing the problem for me after what feels like a week of troubleshooting - it was the blizzard update agent. After suspending it in resource manager on Windows, I no longer have the issue. It’s worth giving it a shot if you haven’t tried it yet (might appear as agent.exe)
This worked for me. Playing on Area 52 and this reset I’ve noticed home latency is fine but world latency is crazy high.
Start menu (in windows 10) → Resource Monitor → Find Agent.exe for Blizzard → Right-click and suspend this service.
This brought my latency down immediately. Thanks again Mavrae!
Happy to help! I figured if it took me a week to figure out, I’d try and help save others the time lol
