High Raider IO does not mean that you are good - not a skill certificate
What is your opinion people ? These are my points.
1- I often have seem people with 2k IO failing to basic mechanics, and if I say something I hear: “Look at your 1.5k IO”. Like anybody bellow their IO score can´t say anything about ones mistakes.
2- Most players (not all) just get over 2k IO because they have good premade groups or guilds. So, that is easy, people who only PUG and are in RP or PvP guilds need to work harder.
3- Higher IO is also about the time you have to spend.
4- Considering item 3, I would say that after 1.5k most players are about the same on experience.
There is no single metric that will tell you whether a player is good or not. Tools like raider.io are just predictors of success. People with high r.io scores are more likely to beat a given key than people with low r.io scores.
I find that I rather run with my guild on any key M+ runs.
I see a Ragnoros player apply I decline on the spot since if something goes sideways usually caused by them they will force disconnect or leave the group.
I rarely do pugs since that is the fastest way to get my keys down graded since it would seem most do not know mechanics.
People declining a decent geared competent individual cause they want that IO that is going to carry them to victory usually these peeps have high keys with an IO: 250 which is amazing.
There is a sweet spot. If you aren’t in the 2k+ range, don’t invite people from that range. They seem to have very little tolerance for wipes and no ability to communicate.
I know in Legion when I was tanking 18-21s on my DK, most groups went off without a hitch, and no one spoke a word. No deaths, no wipes, usually.
These days if you recruit someone way out of your league, expect them to bail at the first sign of trouble. It’s infuriating, but such is the world of warcraft. At the first sign of the timer being blown, they disappear.
Uninstall IO… run your key. Or better still, take ur key and run it with people with low IO scores just to prove a point. I’ll cheer for you. In fact, i’ll que up
Not that I am disagreeing with the actual points you are making, but my opinion is that a skill certificate is not particularly proof that you are good at something.
At least with Raiderio scores, it’s a number based on experience, rather than say multiple choice questions about Mythic+ instances, which might be awarded as a M+ Skill Certificate, which would suck.
IO isn’t about skill, it is about experience doing that level of content. It is not a perfect system but if you are looking for someone with experience in the content you are doing there isn’t another solution really.
Its not about being good, its about knowing what you’re doing.
Imagine you’re a foreman at a construction site and someone comes up to you and says “Hey, I want to drive that forklift”
You respond with “Ok, cool. Ever driven a forklift before?”
They respond “Nope, but I’ve seen other people do it, and watched youtube tutorials. How hard can it be?”
Then someone else comes up and says “Hey, I’ve driven a forklift for ten years and have my forklift certification. I can drive it for you.”
Realistically, no one in their right mind is going to choose the first guy over the second. Its the same way with Raider io. It doesnt matter if you’ve run the dungeon on normal or heroic or watched youtube tutorials, the people who have actual extensive experience with the dungeons will always get priority.
If you dont like it, get your certification. In order words, form your own group.
