High MS in The Americas

Im having hugh MS spikes playing in Quel’thalas.

Of course, playing in LATAM would give you 170-220ms normally, but im not below 500ms since patch day. Doing some WinMTR shows packet loss to the ips on The Americas, but funny thing, doing the same WinMTR to Oceanic servers shows 450ms(usual ms there) but no packet loss.
I’ll post the WinMTR here

Doing the same WinMTR to 24.105.62.129 (2nd The Americas server) throws the same result :

I don’t see 500ms pings in your test. Observe the last line for each one and it looks normal for what you normally said you’re getting.

Additionally, you mentioned running the test to Oceanic servers, but these two tests are to Las Vegas, Nevada, USA and Chicago, Illinois, USA.

that’s nothing - I have often been running over 1500ms today - one time it got up to 9600ms.

I gave up playing a number of times. I can’t even think of doing group content - just doing those group events are torture because I wait for them then my game freezes and I get no credit for the event. I can’t even log off normally have to ‘x’ out of the game.

I am getting a far bit of lag just using this forum now too. I did a local connection test and no problem from me to my ISP. If I still have problems tomorrow I guess I will have to figure out how to do that trace . I am connected to Chicago too.

Elocin, thank you for your reply.

The test i posted here are the 2 i did to The Americas, the server we play in Quel’thalas. The oceanic one i did was for testing purpose.
The average MS you mencion its fine in the test, but in game i’m not below 500ms. Plus, if i join any group/raid, the moment any pull occurs MS spikes to 1500-2000.
In the last line of the test we see some packet loss, that’s not a signal?

I was doing raid for 30 minutes and suddenly i get discconected, and disconected me again 7 times in a row. Each time it took just 5 second to dcd me again.

Its weird becouse in hearthstone is happening something similar with DUOS bgs, and i though it was my internet, but i see there are so many topics here about the same.

The packet loss is probably happening in the middle of the test, but a lot of these hops are ignoring the ICMP requests, so it’s hard to say exactly which one it is.

If you have addons that sync data, they can cause high ping. If you’re playing on servers far from home (in groups) that could cause it too. Beyond that, I’m not sure. Does a VPN help?

Im playing clean so i can test it and discard addons, system and what not.

The thing is, im playing in this same server for 10 years and this MS spikes are a new thing so, probably a VPN could help, i dont know, but its not a solution.
