ince a few days ago, when the beta was launched or the latest update was released, I have been experiencing significant lag spikes whenever I join a group or raid. My lag starts increasing from 200-300-500-1000-1500 ms, whereas my normal ping when I play is 90-100 ms. I uninstalled WoW and reinstalled it completely, but the lag remains the same when joining groups. I tested other games like LoL, Valorant, CoD, etc., and my ping does not go above 90 ms; only WoW has this issue.
I don’t know what to do because I always get lag spikes every time they release a new patch or do a mini update within the game. It seems like every time they update the game, they add something that ruins the in-game experience.

Same here. I can play for maybe 15 minutes if I am lucky before the lag just hangs for about 5 minutes then decides to dc me or I restart the game. West Coast US here

Been having the same lag issue only when i’m in an instance. My latency is low and stable in world server, but everytime i join LFG instances latency climbs from 120 → 400 → 800 ish and reallly annoying.

Thank goodness it isn’t just me.
I’m having this issue on stormrage. I start out fine home and world latency are at 40~ and then about 20 minutes into playing I start getting freezes and my world latency creeps up to 800+
Tried every fix on my end. My Internet is seemingly fine with any other game

I’m still having the problem; I still don’t know what to do to fix it. It’s horrible to play like this; I don’t even feel like logging in anymore. Every time I enter, the same thing happens.
I’ll just let the month expire and hope they fix it in the next update wwt.
Same problem on Oceanic. World latency often climbs intot he thousands making looting in Remix Dungeons very slow. Thinks Im still in combat! Very rude. This is new btw.
I am still having this same issue now. I have tried contacting my ISP and they said they could see no problem on their end and it must be on blizzards.
But as expected there is no blizzard posted help on this thread after 20 or so days. Blizz is more focused on pushing the blame elsewhere than trying to find the issue and solve it. I have already unsubbed from the game now and got a refund for TWW because the game is unplayable.
If anyone here has found a solution to the problem, I would appreciate knowing it.
But from what I can tell it’s on blizzard and they are radio silent.
Mine lag started 1 hours ago. Now I can’t log into the game.

I’ve been getting multiple dc’s in solo shuffle the past week and a half. I run exitlag which shows me what server the game connects to. LA servers are 150ms which is fine, Chicago is 200+.
Now when on LA server shuffles it will shoot up to 180 first round, and I’ll get a dc and have to Relog. No idea what’s going on but the game feels like it’s playing with phantom lag not being shown, super frustrating, and not internet as these issues only ever pop up after resets
Omg i thought it was my internet. Ive been trying to do anytging and my ms jumps to 1750 and stays there as off a few days ago. I think after i downloaded the pre patch update
Just FYI, there is no longer a server in Los Angeles, so I’m not sure what ExitLag is telling you. The West coast server relocated to Las Vegas a bit ago.
See this right here makes me crazy, for months Ive been saying they changed their routing due to cost saving measures and its screwing up everyones ability to play and its been nothing but nay sayers blaming the customer and then you come along and just drop a bomb that they are in fact closing servers and ruining their game just to save a few bucks…why do they not understand they are going to lose MILLIONS in the end with decisions like this, Whatever they save now is a pittance compared to future losses. Theyve already lost lots of customers due to firing the majority of their staff, there is absolutely no customer service anymore, why do they not learn?
The relocation from la to Vegas happened years back, not sure when. Wowpedia doesn’t get updated much unfortunately.

They didn’t close the server though? They changed hosting companies. They’ve done this before over the course of the game’s lifespan. Some of the hosts were located in and around Los Angeles, whereas this one is in Las Vegas.
It’s easy to assume the change is about cost efficiency right now, but it’s probably the same price with a different contract or a steady pricing guarantee for the future.
Internet and connection problems will continue regardless of where the server is located. They could put it in your city and you’d still run into an issue here and there. Why does this happen so much now? Well, fifteen years ago there were fewer:
- people online
- routes to maintain
- business needs
Everything is online now and the U.S. internet infrastructure as a whole hasn’t kept up with demand. The datacenters Blizzard uses aren’t perfect, but they are rarely offline. A lot of services would be offline if the whole datacenter was experiencing issues. However, routes into the game server are often in disrepair because ISPs are barely regulated and we don’t have net neutrality in the U.S.
Also, people spend their time raising pitchforks against gaming companies who write software instead of the companies which provide connections to said software. When more customers stop accepting bad internet service as the norm, ISPs will need to make changes. But as long as they can say: “We looked and it’s not us, go complain to the game makers,” and the customer doesn’t question them, things will remain the same.

You say theres more users so internet gets bogged down now but I have a hard time accepting that with the way technology progresses by leaps and bounds that our internet is now WORSE than it was over a decade ago… I just cant accept that.
It is worse in some cities/areas because the lines are handling more data per nanosecond than they were before and more people are using them at once. Most of today’s cable users are still using the same lines that gave them cable TV 15+ (maybe 20+???) years ago.
