Hello all. I don’t know if its correlated but ever since i have updated to windows 11 I have been getting 160 MS in both home and world in retail. It happens in no other games. It’s not spiking it’s just sitting at 160 stable like im being routed through Australia. I have sent an email to my ISP already but was directed to post here by a GM as well. Any help would be appreciated!
Hopefully just temporarily, as networks adjust to possible changes in security due to ddos attacks ever the last few weeks. Until then there’s only basic ways to try. Those were likely sent in response to the tickets.
I am getting the same. I usually sit at 21ms, but past couple days can’t get under 150ms. Hope this gets looked at.
So I did some testing on this, I am on “Moonrunner” realm, which is part of “Shadowburn” server in Chicago at ip address “24.105.62.129”. I ran a tracert and everything came back perfect too 22ms, so there is something else going on with the route, and I don’t know when launching the game to see what route it takes after selecting the character.
But, thought it was interesting to see that it should be 22ms but is actually at 150ms in game.
If you know how to check this please let me know.
Those addresses are outdated, Blizzard stopped posting them publicly, so the traces may not be entirely accurate. While your home server might be Chicago, your technically could be connected to any world server.
So running “Resource Monitor” and running wow it looks like it is connecting to ip address “66.40.176.99” and doing a tracert on that shows it is routing through Tokyo “210.173.176.98” that is where the ping goes high. I reside near Toronto, Canada.
I just tested using a VPN connected to Chicago and my latency in game is down to 18ms, so there is something wrong in the routing somewhere, but this will have to be my solution for now.
Correct, your ISP will need to update their routing to reach the Blizzard servers in Chicago, instead of using Southeast Asian nodes and then sending back to the U.S.
