This is why Blizz’s first support step is usually to delete the interface folder
The “WTF” folder I think it’s called.
WTF is the other one, but that’s settings. Removing WTF basically forces the game to reconfigure itself. Which can be helpful but also can cause lots of other pain as things like keybinds and accessibility settings are there too.
Oh, I always thought of the acronym when people suggest deleting it. It seems named appropriately.
Best way to remember is that deleting the WTF folder causes one to say WTF when entering the game the next time.
Or when it gets corrupted, it’s worth setting up a backup of the folder on a regular basis.
Even when the computer is in my possession it can be a real pain in the butt. I was having bluetooth audio issues with two completely unrelated Windows 10 machines a while back and almost no combination of search terms turned up anything useful… there were a gorillion different causes and solutions for very similar problems and none of them worked. As nice as it is to have an OS that runs on almost anything the mystery meat component of it can be way more frustrating than it should be.
This doesn’t surprise me. WAs are just big blobs of Lua and I would hazard a guess that practically none of them were written by someone who writes code for a living, which is a problem because it’s really easy to write ridiculously bad/inefficient Lua code if you don’t know what you’re doing.
It’s the headset and the dongle <_<; The headsets are set up for phone bluetooth and the dongle doesn’t implement that so they are falling back to an older and garbage standard. It’s insanely common with ‘bluetooth’ things and PCs. You have to find a headset or dongle that is specifically called out as compatible… which is difficult.
In my case, what was happening is that whenever there was silence, the bluetooth connection would sleep when there was no audio playing (presumably to save power) and then not wake up quickly enough when audio started playing again, resulting in the first 0.5-2.5s of audio playback getting cut off. Not too much of a problem for videos or music but enough to make e.g. a language learning Anki card deck with audio clips practically unusable. This is never a problem on my Linux and macOS boxes.
I did get hit with the dumb handset bug too though, which I “fixed” by hunting down the handsfree entry for my headphones in Device Manager and removing it, forcing Windows to use the proper mode.
Not surprising, they don’t try to be aggressive with power savings and don’t let third parties supply drivers. The phone headsets are designed to fall back into BLE when they aren’t actively playing and use protocol to wake up. The PC dongles aren’t designed to handle that as they are designed for mice and other peripherals which don’t do that (yet, they probably should). There are some patent issues too, but that’s the TLDR of it. Bluetooth is completely garbage because it’s not a standard but rather an absolute crap ton of them that nobody implements all of. The easiest way to think of it is “Phone bluetooth” and “Computer bluetooth”. It’s why a “computer headset” that uses bluetooth generally won’t have an issue but a “headset” will. Because the latter was designed for phones.
I have analyzed your specs and taken into account all of the info given.
This is the problem
Try a fresh Windows install, sometimes that will help faster then trying this and that and pulling your hair out.
Last time I used AMD GPU was easy back with a R7 series and that had an issue of random crashes. So it was Nvidia ever since and no real game stopping issues that that ever since.
I recently suggested AMD to my friend and what a pos that card was, so many issues and nothing worked and looking online it was the same thing but ppl got theirs to work only after going above and beyond to get it working.
Told him to just bring it back to the store and he paid a lil more for a 2070 (under 500can) and what do you know but it worked as soon as the PC started up. Just how video cards should work
haha if that’s the problem I’ll deal with it, I love this state. It’s absolutely beautiful and the outdoor opportunities are endless <3
But nah, I just dropped from DX12 to DX11 and it solved my issue.
As i mentioned previously though, WoW is literally the only title that has any issues with my PC and refresh demand.
I was just messin…
