Speaking of Kaelāthas. I am loving this weekās Venthyr moment, since it has to do with him and the events of Quelāthalas.
I wasnāt talking about his looks, but about his label.
I did think that his eyes in the wiki looked blueish, but for all we know he could be just another Lanesh.
I havenāt done it yet but Iām really looking forward to see him shirtlessā¦ I meanā¦ how the story develops, yes, that.
There were a ton of High Elves who left the city, because it was about to be razed to the ground, but many never abandoned their social and/or political ties to either Dalaran or the Alliance.
A huge number of them simply followed Jaine Proudmoore from Dalaran to Theramore.
Iāve never understood what it is about Kaelāthas that has people so enamored, his life is just one prolonged disappointment.
im aware of the theramore pop. they were always the elves that never left imo. saying there was a ton who followed is a stretch tho
He had potential.
And then they used him as a loot piƱata twice.
And then they used him for Illidan to look better.
EDIT: For adding the funny looking Nā¦ as a spanish speaker to see the word āpiƱataā without it bugs me.
I mean, thereās a few in SW, but southshore is closer along with the wildhammer clans and ironforge.
I could see them taking refuge their until they and other people of dalaran could reorganize themselves and rebuild their fallen city.
Of course I donāt KNOW thatās what happened.
-
Did what he needed to ensure the survival of his people even if he was later shunned for it.
-
Voiced by Quinton Flynn who did a phenomal job portraying him as someone over the edge of madness.
-
Memeād for all eternity.
-
Shadowlands is doing him a solid redemption story which also is lining up to be a Blood Elf/High Elf story.
I pretty much always viewed Kaelāthas as someone who was woefully incompetent at everything he did, barring his spellcasting.
If a majority likes him despite all that, it would be due to poor writing and not this at allā¦
Well canonically his race isnāt really defined, even if the game might label his model as such. And considering that at that point in time eye color was really the main visual distinction between the Blood elves and High elves, Iād say its valid to call him a High elf.
Coincidentally you can see neutral high elf refugees mingling among Shattrath, not hard to believe that he might be a high elf who supports the Blood elf cause - even the wiki notes this as a likely possibility.
theres a few in SW literally. i agree
but theramore had probably the largest concentration of actual alliance high elves. and since blizz has been consistent that the alliance high elf population is very, very low its very safe to say imo the majority of dalaran evacuees returned to silvermoon and became blood elves. oh, and theramore got blown up soā¦
He wasnāt any degree of incompetent until blizz went: āYou know what would be great, letās say that the blood elves were not going to die without the Sunwell!ā
And probably an intern replied with: āBut sir, what about all that Kaelāthas did for his people?ā
Which was possibly met with: āWho?ā
But then Lanesh should be called a High Elf despite the label he appears with?
Iām all for the re-unification, but if the guy appears with that label, thatās what he is in my eyes.
Iām a simple girl, heh.
Iām not sure where youāre getting that High Elves made it float. The Kirin Tor is made up of far more than Elves, and none of itās current leadership are. In fact:
The Six:
Khadgar
Kalec
Karlain
Modera
Ansirem
Vargoth
Races:
Human
High elf
Blood elf
Highborne
Night elf
Gnome
Dwarf
Half-elf
Worgen
Orc
Troll
Draenei
Pandaren
Forsaken
Goblin

Butā¦ he was joking.
Plus, heās one of very few Warcraft leaders to face a true crisis. For better or worse he oversaw the rebuilding of Quelāthalas into a great power. He got them through the magic withdrawals.
We need a sarcasm font, badly.
I donāt like he got villain batted twice but after what I experienced today, Iām okay with it.
Laneshās identity is also never established within the game, but I certainly believe that was the impression the person who gave him blue eyes was trying to make.
And unless I see it spoken or established in-game, I wouldnāt see it as canonical.
Right, I remember all those offers of massive assistance from Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes (ok, not you, you still havenāt gotten any help from Humans, Dwarves or Elves in getting your own home back), Night Elves (who, to be fair, were on another continent for the most part), and those wayward Thalassians who turned their backs on their kin.
I read all about that inā¦
ā¦ohā¦
ā¦waitā¦
ā¦I didnāt read about that anywhere because as far as I can tell it didnāt happen.
Blood elves can have blue eyes.
