Talking about this with some people in game right now, and I figured itās a point that needs to be brought up.
On both larger NA servers several people I play with have experienced harassment in the past for playing High Elves on Horde; or for even having their eye colour set in their RP profiles to blue. I experienced this myself back in Cataclysm, but the character was intended to have issues. (Character still exists. I main Alliance now, and it ICly turned into a velf.)
I vividly remember debates back in the day if quelādorei would be allowed in Quelāthalas at all anymore. We were told to go play Alliance if we wanted to RP a high elf. There were threads on and off discussing the matter on both WET and the realm forums, and several off-site forums had extremely lengthy debates on the matter as well - usually resulting in a ātheyāre not welcomeā conclusion.
I find it absolutely baffling now how excited Horde players are now for the prospect of blue eyed blood elves now, when it was spat on in the past before the popularity of high elves as an allied race came about. This is a VERY recent shift in attitude.
Iāve stated before in this thread I donāt care much either way, I just want the Alliance to have something itās actually asked for. (I vastly prefer velf.) But frankly, it feels like - especially as things ramp up - the opposition simply doesnāt want it to "shut people upā.
Donāt be a douche to people requesting this if blood elves get the option. The request had merit from the start, and crapping on it because āwe wonā is absolutely ridiculous. People have been getting trolled and heckled about the topic for years, and itās gotten ridiculously nasty now that a āwinningā side may happen.

Anyone who thinks that Blood Elves getting blue eyes is somehow going to end the request for playable Alliance High Elves, hasnāt been paying attention.
I can say with 100% certainty the request will continue unabated even if/when it happens.

Iāve predicted itāll get worse, and expand to even more people requesting factions be abolished for everything outside PvP.
There will be no winners.
Just more threads.
I dont mind people requesting high elves. Its your desire, go for it. Just because I disagreen does not mean I aim to stop you from requesting.
Just as I want more options.

True, but there is lore though that does support Blood Elves having blue eyes, and there is some NPCās in games that are Blood Elves that have blue eyes too.
But still, even if Blood Elves does get Blue Eyes, I will still be here to support for High Elves for the Alliance.
Iām inclined to believe its not going to happen but thats just me, and its not a customization I want so I am not inclined to advocate for it, and I have my questions as to why Holy has hints of its own agenda through out the game and if it does have its own agenda, then it makes sense Holy eyes came first, and I donāt see the same being said for arcane.
But its not something on my watch radar tbh, if it happens I think it would be a good sign for playable High Elves, to make sure the Blood Elf player is content, and now they can focus on the new Alliance High Elves like someone previously stated possibly in 10.0

Indeed, it will continue until High Elves are made into an AR or core race Iād imagine.

Iām fairly sure Blood Elves will get blue eyes in Shadowlands. I just donāt get why anyone thinks that would stop requests for playable Alliance High Elves. I know Iāll certainly keep asking for them till we get them or the game shuts down.

Some believe there is no difference between High Elves and Blood Elves.
Same race so same thing they say.
They think if the Blood Elves get blue eyes that means the High Elves are there.
They forget that the request is for the High Elves in the Alliance.
They forget that is why Void Elves didnāt end this request.

Keep in mind that itās probably not the same people. There are people on the Horde that want a blue eyed customization for their blood elves. There are other people on Horde that hated that idea during CATA and still hate it now. Thereās other ppl on Horde that roll a blood elf that would faction change to the Alliance to roll a high elf. And all of these ppl exist on the Alliance side as well.
The high elf debate gets a lot of people really wound up as does the blue eyed option. I donāt understand the amount of hate that high elves get from a lot of people nor do I understand the amount of hate that a blue eyed customization for blood elves gets. I think everyone should get what they want. Give the Alliance their high elves. Give the Horde their blue eyed blood elves.
The problem with arguing to withhold something is that you can never actually win that fight. In this specific case the anti high elf people will either eventually lose the fight, or have to continue the fight all the way up to the day in 2161 when the last WoW server is shut down and the United Federation of Plants is formed.

I always knew.

That you would betray me.
I agree, maybe itās time to just end the arguments, try a compromise, and give both factions the blue eyed option.
With Shadowlands ending the Allied race grind, I think Void elf population will explode. Perhaps the Silver Covenant and Void Elves will go to war with each other. There certainly should be friction between the two. It could make for some great Alliance storytellingā¦brother against brother ?
Everyone does has the right to play what they want, regardless of what faction they are on. Heck, I am up for Alliance having High Elves, and I am up for the Blood Elves having Blue Eyes as well.
Thing is, these arguments that go backwards and forwards between the proās and antiās are just getting nowhere. Yes, the proās have been in the wrong several times as well, and so have the antiās, but in the end, the real thing we all got to keep in mind is that we all enjoy the same game, and want the best out of this game, as well as enjoy it in our own possible ways too.

Iām for Alliance having High Elves, but Iām less keen on the idea of blue eyed blood elves but I think it will change literally nothing as far as the ask for High Elves goes, and whatās more it may be a good sign of Blizzard appeasing BE fans before adding HEās.
On the other hand I vehemently oppose suggestions like the other day that advocate for the BE model for the Alliance HEās while asking for BEās to get a ānewā model. On that end I have to side more with the posters who advocate against HEās on that very point of stealing from BEās.

Giving Blood Elves blue eyes isnāt going to effect the idea of High Elves for the Alliance. Because the one thing youāll notice with the High Elves to the Blood Elves is that the High Elves have more of āhuman-alikeā eyes, while the Blood Elves eyes do glow.

Yeah I donāt think it will effect Alliance High Elves at all thats why I said it changes literally nothing as far as asking for HEās.

Not to spoil anyoneās hopes but those might be Worgen Eyes.
They are getting scared faces and likely they come with damaged eyes. Like Kul Tiran.
Thatās why some are dim.
Also Night Elves are getting Blond Hairā¦ heh.
