High Elf compromise

Obviously all races are going to have to “Wait their turn” but you seem to be implying that it will take longer for allied races…

Do you have a source for this? I genuinely want to know if this is the case or not.

The devs said right now only the “core” races are getting new customization.

if they mean the first patch or this expansion we don’t know.

hehe 2 things. everybody else gets like blue, green, purple, pink, white, one eye one color, one eye another color, dunno why no brown> anybody see brown eye color customization? brown is my fav eye color. ever since this cute guy in high school who had the prettiest brown eyes. some are getting black eyes, and theres some san’layn eyes hiding in the belf folder. and thats just new stuff. not counting what they already had.

I have a bunch of elves in stable (I think all but one of my Hordies is a belf), and thus it’s probably not a surprise that I have zero interest in playing the same model Alliance-side (void elves are just different enough to try out).

Having said that (and steadfastly refusing to read almost 600 replies)…sure, knock yourself out. Additional velf options, or even a high elf race, makes no difference to me. Doesn’t affect my gameplay, and the lore is like a burst water pipe - literally all over the place. I won’t get up on the stage and advocate for it, no, but if it makes people happy, I see no reason why not.

This is literally all I can find

We’re adding even more options for you to be able to express yourself in game through your character. Each race will have their own unique options available to them whether it’s their tattoos, hairstyles, skin color, or even eye color. The undead will also be able to choose whether they show bones or not. There are a wide range of improvements coming for Shadowlands, and this is just the start of providing more options to your character creation.

If you have a source I would genuinely love to see it. It would be a bummer if true. Ignoring void elves some of the allied races need more customization options the most…
Stares at LF Draenei and HM tauren

would you play alliance half elves? still have elf ears, only shorter, and elf eyebrows, only shorter. and in 3 flavors-african, asian or caucasian.

Legit I’d consider playing a half elf if it was more than just half High/blood/void/whatever elf. A half Night elf for example would be kinda cool.

They could do some cool things to with their racials. They could have a human racial, two half elf racials, and a racial depending on which elf half they are. Like Shadowmeld for Half Night elves or that weird rift thing for half void elves.

well see, they get locked out of african or asian elf, if they arent half human.

yeah i don’t have the Q&A link, and im in no place to go finding bu i have the quote

" What are some of the new customization options available? And will Allied Races receive any?

Right now, Allied Races aren’t getting any new customization options (understandably so). However, the team talked about how Forsaken will finally be able to cover their bones if they want and that doing so will mean armor no longer has a break at the elbow or knees! Another exciting customization option being added is tattoos and other features that will allow Dwarves to appear as part of the Wildhammer clan."

Alright, appreciate it.
Disappointed, my dwarf will have to wait, but appreciate it.

I mean, like he said is understandable, allied races are brand new stuff, their customization are already “new”.

Old races didn’t get an update or something new for LONG time, they were obviously jealous by the quality of most of the allied races

Maybe they will ahve to wait until 10.0 or middle of shadowlands, who knows, keep in mind that worgens and goblins waited quite a bit to get their new models

I’d consider it, if they followed through on the wider range of ethnic choices (and not just, say, dark skin painted over a caucasian model). But in truth, I don’t see that happening. More’s the pity, because it’s not a bad idea.

african half elf shaman or druid.

well humans are getting african and asian models.

Only if you misquote him (like several people have done in this thread). He does say they are “kinda” the same, but then he goes on to share several differences between the two groups, and talk about High Elves as shown in game (and he doesn’t talk about any Blood Elves at that time).

True enough, and a couple of my humans are headed for an ethnic redesign as a result.

But I confess I can’t see them coming up with a half-elf model, even if I am interested in taking one for a test drive through Azeroth. I mean, Arator is literally the only half-elf around (in-game, at least), and while your idea certainly has merit, I don’t see them allocating staff hours and funding simply to insert a race that has only a handful of advocates.

void elves didnt have any advocates before they were introduced as playable haha. they werent in the game so we could ask for them.

You’re correct there as well. However, the models required very little tweaking to make a velf. Now, if you’re advocating human models with some minor changes (ears, eyebrows, yadda yadda), then sure, that would essentially be the same thing, but I don’t see them creating a whole new skeletal frame and model for it.

Yes I wouldn’t mind it if given the alternative. That or just give us the race to make on creation select screen.
