You mispelled “were rejected when they tried to warn that Kael’s path was a bad idea”.
If your joke was in response to the 90% flipping sides to join the 10% - and referencing r/l history to somehow imply that I’m wrong in that position - then it wasn’t much of a joke since I would challenge your apparent contention that happens often enough to make it a joke.
By all means, let’s make it an actual civil war though. That could be fun to watch from the sidelines…as I don’t play either race.
I can’t really fault any Blood Elf enthusiast for failing to understand their own lore.
After all, any pre-WoW lore has to do with either High Elves on the Alliance or Blood Elves who we all killed in Outland. The Blood Elves in current Silvermoon have very little actual context independent of High Elves as well.
It’s almost as if this is a tightly bound intraracial conflict that is only surpassed by the Human/Undead schism in sheer context throughout WoW’s lifetime.
Yet… it’s apparently also not worthy of further exploration, because some people are held up on skin tone as some marker of uniqueness.
A lot of things that are senseless for a story point make sense from a game development point. In this era, more and more MMOs are doing away with factions or softening them to the point they no longer matter. WoW is one of the few maintaining the hard faction boundary and removing it would just water it down. I am not sure removing it would be healthy.
Probably because you’re using ridiculous logic no one else is using.
We see every major group represented through BFA on both alliance and the Horde, and yet, the SC is never represented in any fashion. The silver covenant, doesn’t present itself at all.
Since MoP they have not participated in alliance only capacities where other
groups do.
Otherwise, I’d totally say “they’re just trying to keep the peace in Dalaran since the Sunreavers dont show up either.”
I think its nonsense you guys are clinging to the silver covenant as if they mean anything.
Seriously, Vereesa was present ONLY once the Horde broke into another civil war. Didn’t appear in any other capacity prior.
What is this? Try and bait a response day?
“They don’t know their lore”
“They don’t know this”
“Mispelled that”
Hey kettle!
Still 100% more screentime than Umbric, prior to Void Elves becoming a thing.
Well…yeah…I’d expect Vereesa to have more screentime than Umbric prior to his race being a thing. If they weren’t a thing, neither would he be a thing. Come on now.
Let’s look at the present. His presence is much greater than Vereesa.
She doesn’t even get a line in BFA. It’s laughable.
So, which is it:
-
Any potential playable race has to be relevant to the current narrative, in which case HE’s are a more appropriate addition than almost every Allied Race the Alliance has received (excepting DID and maybe Kul Tirans)?
OR
-
Any potential playable race doesn’t have to be relevant to the current narrative, in which case HE’s are a more appropriate addition than almost every Allied Race the Alliance has received (likely including DID and Kul Tirans). In this scenario, your hyper-focus on their relevance is, itself, irrelevant.
Or it’s simply a matter of The Rule of Cool (or more accurately; The Rule of Whatever Blizzard Thinks is Cool Today ) trumping anything any of us have to say on the matter.
Blizzard will do whatever it comes into their heads to do - they’ve proven that over and over again.
Maybe that’s not why she feels they need redemption.
I love how this “rule” that Blizzard once said they’d follow has been debunked.
Mag’har? Brought from an alternate timeline, never got any special role.
Mechagnomes? A diversion from the main questline. No impact outside of their own little story.
Lightforged draenei? Forgotten once added.
Void elves? Forgotten once added. Big Void path is near and there’s no sign of them doing anything.
Dark irons? Forgotten once made playable.
What allied races kept appearing and getting (small roles) after their introduction? Nightborne, highmountain.
Even kul tirans and zandalari, who were pivotal in the beginning of the story, disappeared once they were made playable. Specially zandalari, who were ravaged by the Alliance but were MIA in the war conclusion.
In the end, allied races being central to the story was just a big lie.
This would fall under category #2 – and I agree with you.
Ok, that’s fair (and I hope you’re having a better day than the last time we talked ) but what, then, does she feel they need redemption from?
This is a red herring and can be ignored.
What is being discussed is the relevancy of the silver covenant independent of the matter of making a race playable.
The silver covenant is simply not a formal part of the alliance. They belong to Dalaran, and Dalaran is neutral.
Your desire to argue the matter of high elves playability based on their relevancy is not one I have pushed forth. Its literally rule of cool like Murga said. DiD had no relevance until recently. LF Dranei had nothing til they were something.
Same for Void elves and Zandalari, Mag’har, HM Tauren, Nightborne etc etc.
Or maybe its transference, who knows?
This is the real tragedy. Also I miss the purple armor, it was purply.
I am, thanks for checking!
It’s possible that she feels they need redemption for their role in Theramore.
I think and and Lor’themar had a thing and they are bitter over it.
Who and Lor’themar?
Glad to hear it, and you’re welcome.
I agree that’s possible, but it’s fair at that point to expect that the SC involved in the Purge of Dalaran could use a bit of redemption themselves.
Vereesa
