High Elf Allied Race Megathread (Continuation)

Yes, it’s their neutrality that allows them to house Alliance but kick out Horde. They’re neutral like Britain was neutral to Serbia before WW1, as in not neutral.

Aligned does not mean a part of, it means friends or to have a common agreement and to work together.

It shouldn’t be. Blizz set the precedent of having a group of the same “parent race” high elves split into two factions.

One group renamed themselves and went horde.

The other remained alliance, and didn’t rename themselves.

This was set up before the pandaren, and now that they have allied races… it sets up High elves as a plausible AR.

Give me my Nozdormu style High Elves

I think the writing was thin, and not enough of it, in the “why did the Nightborne join the Horde?” story. Having said that, I think Tyrande was her usual “Night Elves for Life” self who (and I agree in part) had good reasons to spurn them for pulling the magical covers over their heads and hiding from the world for 10,000 years while everyone else got to deal with what was going on.

I really wish that had been given more time in the Thalyssra’s Choice story arc, because it could have been pretty compelling. I don’t think Tyrande’s “but can they be trusted” attitude is at all misplaced, it’s just horribly written.

Yeah it was a pretty weak story. It boiled down to, Tyrande was a bit mean to me so we’ll join her enemies and help burn down the home of people who helped save ours.

Neutrality means diddly squat after that.

they have had every opportunity to leave the neutrality of the kirin tor and put on 7th legion uniforms. only 3 are willing to die for the alliance. 2 dont even put boots on the ground but remain within the safety of an airship. and theyre only friend is jaina. most of the alliance will always be uncertain of them as long as silvermoon is aligned with the horde

blood elves make up well over 90% of the living high elf population. some remained in dalaran and some simply retreated south of quel’thalas. they didnt ‘align’ themselves with the alliance only a few individuals can truly be said to have done this. there is no alliance high elf army or state in the alliance. the high elf state is quel’thalas

But what you’re asking for is a Dragon - who gets to idealize whatever skin suit he decides to pull on - in an over the top, perfected, version of a Thalassian Elf. Is that honestly what you want them to hand over, or is that more of an “If I had my way every race and class would receive a perfected version of their race - i.e. their best looking NPC model - as the base playable version”?

So population is a factor now?
Except when it’s not?

I want the nightborne treatment: B-level playable model while a “over the top, perfected, version” of an NPC model exists.

Just like they did for the Nightborne. Exactly that

I really liked Thalyssra until the Nightborne AR quest line showing her reasoning to join the Horde. Seriously, that’s some childish petty behavior. I don’t mind them joining the Horde, but I want them to have a better reason than Thalyssra throwing a hissy.

Now I hope Valtrois becomes the First Arcanist.

Well that’s whole other kettle of fish then, because the playable model falls seriously short of the NPC mark

:sob:

at least we got thalyssra, oculeth and valtrois from it

That’s because Blizzard is shallow when it comes to playable models. But in truth it’s because most people are typically into surface level looks when it comes to playable models thus can’t really blame Blizzard for not caring much either.

Look at the Mag’har for instance, yes there was some “omg these aren’t the Outland Mag’har” but do most people still care? No, because they at least captured the essence of what a Mag’har is in terms of looks: A Brown Uncorrupted Orc.

Re-read what I said buddy. Then look at those pictures. My comments and the pictures match. Which was the point.

Well, you said you want the Norz version…which is in the link below and is the Thalassian Elf reimagined and heroically buff and a significantly different facial structure:

And not at all what happened when Blizzard had the Nightborne NPCs which had a much cooler vibe than what they put in game and instead gave a darker, less buff, figure on a NElf frame.

Bender meme “oi this guy”

Look, no matter how many times you say it and think it to be true. High Elves are not playable. The Blood Elves are. We have also shown in this thread how the two can be distinct enough from each other in just the short 25-30 years they have been separated from one another.

These arguments have been debunked already multiple times. Falling back to them over and over isnt going to change the outcome. High Elves have been a potential Alliance AR since the first go around, and will continue to be one until they are added or WoW is dead.

Ideally High Elves would get the Zandalari treatment. I think they’re the best looking Allied Race so far.

As I’m sure people said they wanted “playable Nightborne” and pointed at those like that NPC you shared on the left.

Let me try to make it clearer

NPC Nightborne = A-list model
Playable Nightborne = B-list model

Therefore when I say “I want exactly the Nightborne treatment”, it means

Nozdormu = A-list model
Playable High Elf = B-list model

You’re trying very hard to twist the meaning of my statements but it should be really simple to understand since you understand what happened with Nightborne.

No, I’m asking questions because I didn’t understand where you were coming from. Calm down amigo, they were clarifying questions - nothing more.

Didn’t someone say it’s insanity to repeat the same thing over and over again?
