High CPU temps from BNet app since patch

Since patch 9.0.3
Previously, iMac idles around 34ºC and in WoW will go into 50s and 60s, as expected.

Just opening the Battlenet app alone, raises my CPU to the 70s and fan becomes very loud. In WoW I’m in the high 80s and 90s. (My apartment is fully air-conditioned).

The usual was done: reinstall app, reset NVRAM, reset SMC, turn off GPU acceleration for Bnet app, close app on WoW launch etc. Note that these temps stay high even when in WoW after exiting the Bnet app. After quitting WoW, temp and fan speeds will drop after a few mins.

It’s still safe to play, but amazes me that I run hotter in WoW than doing heavy tasks in Premiere Pro and After Effects for hours on end.
iMac 27" / 3.4Ghz i5 / 24GB / R9 M290X.

Sounds like you have a permisons issue.

Look for the 777 on the directory.

Maybe try disabling the turbo boost. I have the i9 5600m MBP and I play with the turbo boost off. There is a noticeable difference in temperature on my end.
