High APM DPS

Curious to know if those high APM DPS listed are as strict timing wise and punishing with mistakes in the rotation in comparison to fire mage. You can’t exactly mash with fire mage cause you’ll lose out big time on dps especially during combustion like using 3x fire blast one after another or two consecutive phoenix flames with time warp before the pyro hits. Also add the jumping and strafing to our APM when combusting.

I agree with the Enh Shaman…On mine I feel like I am dancing on my hotkeys for than any other alt.

http://simulationcraft.org/reports/T26_Raid.html

By default, it will show you “Raid Summary” but if you collapse that, right under it will show you “Additional Raid Information” and it has a list of all APMs for every spec simmed.

I took a screencap of it in case you just want a quick glance:

My gut said Rogue so that’s more like it. I was still surprised to see Fury so high when I’m filling in with single-target Whirlwinds while ‘thirst is on CD and RB is out of charges, but I’m guessing these APMs are counting buffs like Recklessness that are off the GCD. I just macro that and trinket together with a GCD ability so it’s not a separate button push.

Prot uses SotR whenever they have resources for it and need uptime, as it’s their Active Mitigation as well as a damaging ability, and isn’t on the GCD with their other abilities. Luck into a few Shield procs and you’ll hit SotR a lot.

What kind of question is that? Is haste a secondary stat on a lot of gear?
Do spells like lust/warp/hero exist?

Come on fam, apply a little of brainpower.

you are intentionally dodging the intention of my question.

nobody has a 0.75 second gcd. So why claim its even relevant?

Survival Hunter.

Think about why people don’t like it…

“Too much busy work just to get the same result” is what it often boils down to. In it’s actual DPS it’s way up there, but few people who try it bother to master it.

I won’t say you can easily out-DPS any other Hunter, because you cannot do so… easily… but if you master it you will do so consistently.

And most people who historically have picked hunter did not do so to have an insanely high APM melee class that has to perform all the utility AS WELL AS handle melee mechanics.

I am not intentionally dodging the question - I’m attempting to lead you to the correct conclusion on your own but you seem be to really struggling. The numbers are higher than you expect because the GCD is affected by any percent of haste - not just max haste…

Basic math time:
APM = actions per minute
minute = 60s
if GCD = 0.75 (from MAX HASTE), then
= 60/0.75
= 80 actions a minute (disregarding any instant/off-GCD spells)

Go look at the list again, is anyone above 80? Do they get close to 80 with instant procs and haste buffs?

Feel free to ask any follow up questions if you got lost!

Oh. You know, if Op had a computer they could have typed this out.

Ya, I did the same math. Thats why I came to the conclusion I did.

Seconding a Fury warrior.

Rogues are also good. I felt GCD locked on Assassination and Outlaw, though Subtlety was a bit less than that. There’s also Havoc DH, but Blizzard hates them right now. Windwalker Monks can be relatively spammy.

Fury warrior and bm hunter are gcd locked and everything is instant cast.

Fury feels very enjoyable atm, simple enough rotation (fill rage bar and rampage - rinse and repeat) and 2+ target is as simple as hit ww every 3rd (or 5th if talented) cast - the rest is the same. WW is also used as a filler in the event everything is on cooldown, which isnt that often.

If you dont enjoy melee combat and its issues, try a bm hunter because the roation is just as busy and cleave is - hit multi shot for 4 secs of cleave. 100% uptime on rotational, instant casts while moving puts bm in a very easy spot in any content - plus the ease of leveling a bm hunter is absurd (boring imo) - pull everything and let your pet deal with it while you stand back out of the bad!

Fury warrior 100 percent the highest. It’s a fun spec too. I like bashing heads in

Fury warrior is GCD capped. Meaning you literally cast a spell every single cooldown and would cast more but the game prevents you from doing so.

There may be other class specs that are GCD locked as well, which would tie them for the highest, but no one can be higher that fury.

I feel like prot warrior is 90-120 apm when I play it, but I also don’t tend to use devestator.

(I’m aware the original question was about dps)

Feral is one of the lower APM specs, I know that.

That list isnt accurate in a real world scenario. Things like movement, resources, targets and fight duration affect the maximum APM a spec is capable of.

For example, on my combat rogue i am GCD capped for the first 1 minute 20s of a stationary fight…until i run out of energy for 3s…then I cant cast anything.

Fury warrior never runs out of resources, and isnt affected by movement.
