No conflict with transmog because it lasted at least 5 years when transmog was active. Wanted to hide helm and cloak up to 2016, you did it in the options menu.
They just added more steps and made it more frequent. Instead of just doing it permanently, now you have to do several steps each time you get something new.
In rift if you get new gear it doesnt matter, your transmog is not on the items and you can hide or show whatever you want and dye your gear. GW2 you can hide slots just by clicking on a box next to the slot in your wardrobe tab. WoW is behind in terms of transmog.
If you don’t want to run back then pony up the gold and buy the transmog yak like everyone else did. I use it all the time to edit my transmog and all you gotta do is be able to use a mount to make use of it
Coming from a coder… Can’t speak to the weirdness, but “how the coding had to work…” Just NO. stop. wrong.
It took EXTRA effort to move it. would have been easier to create the transmog without the “hide options”, rather than create that system, and then later take more time to remove them from the menu and add them to a different part of the game entirely. Even years ago this was possible, and would take extra effort to change it.
I know there are people on both sides of the fence on this. Personally, I want them in the menu, because I am old school and I like the convenience. I know WoW had their reasons. I don’t know what they are, but they had them im sure.
But don’t speak to the code when you clearly don’t understand it.
When it was an interface option, you also only had to do it once ever on any character. I know that I will always hide my helmet on every character, forever. Checking a box in the options one time was nice.
Personally I don’t really care since I have the mount, but if I didn’t it would be pretty annoying.
“get good” doesn’t address their position at all. It interrupts RP. I own the Yak but want my helm hidden even in the circumstances of IDK being in a raid? And should I desire to see my helm again at any given moment, the inconvenience of mounting up isn’t justified by anyone arguing against this person in the entire thread. I don’t care who’s wrong or right: Make. It. Make. Sense. To. Me.
If you’re RPing, just equip or unequip the item you want to change. I have like, 6 staves with different 2H sword transmogs in my bags that I can swap around with. Yaks and the portable transmog toy are available options to transmog literally anywhere (the toy works indoors and in raids while the yak works outside with no CD and won’t stand around after you’re done). RPing to take your helmet off? Simply… Clicking to unequip it would be faster than the old method of going through the Options menus.
Also, people generally don’t care to keep pulling dead threads back up from the ancient times.
