Things I did not know. I don’t remember ever seeing an IoC game won by reinforcements.
I think this had already occurred! so I think the score was like 125 to like 90 then we dropped the wall bringing them down to 40ish
maybe it took several moments to register and im mistaken though
Carry on bud, but you’re wasting your time. ![]()
Will do! ![]()
I’ve had some great luck with epic battlegrounds this week!
Had an Ashran today where me and a rogue went straight to solar sphere and capped it while our team won the RoC fight. I went from the mines and did a suicide run to take out the enemy fragment turn in.
Respawned back at base and people were mentioning a certain DK was going to try to backdoor. Hung out there for a bit then I noticed him on the minimap and called it out. Couple of us went outside our base to meet him and scared him off. We had a healer with us so he couldn’t kill us but we couldn’t kill him (being a blood DK, after all). He eventually ran off so we went back to base but of course he came back.
This time he actually made it up the hill and along with a rogue and guardian druid got into the boss room. Sadly for all of them the healer who was with us was healing the boss so they couldn’t actually kill her, and we took them out.
The game ended shortly after that with our team pushing into their base and killing their boss. I loved that match though because it shows what happens when people communicate and call things out. If we had abandoned our boss their backdoor would have worked and we would have lost.
I still think that backdooring needs to be fixed in Ashran, but that was fun.
Oh yeah, and randomly finding their rogue stealthed in our base is always funny.
More copy/paste spam. Reported.
Save yourself, Vornicar. I’m going to bed. I have work tomorrow. I don’t suppose you know what that’s like?
These are some of the most high value solo plays a players can do in ashram! Gotta love it.
gotta love having the strike team
totally agree!
have a good night! I’m on break right now but I am quite familiar. I appreciate your misplaced concern for my career though
GL tomorrow!
OP, yes, that is the thrill of playing well in an epic BG that is pretty evenly matched. Good for you and some on your team who kept trying. Huge respect for that, as opposed to the usuals who choose to constantly complain on the forums about “premades” just because they choose to not play well, assuming they even queue for the mode.
Anyway, sounds like your team did really well so congrats.
You know the OP never mentioned premades. Did you really have to go into a thread that wasn’t about them and bring it up just to try to take a jab at those who bring up legitimate complaints about queue syncing?
Really bro? Just enjoy the story!
TL;DR : IoC turtle win
It’s great when the team doesn’t fully give up after the first fight.
More players are learning these Round 2 strats.
Ashran : Hold the choke
IoC: Turtle base or retakr hangar mid game
Wintergrasp Offense : Keep pushing bridge and SR to gain rank 2 then zerg the walls
Cheers!
Yes but I learned that the strat is slightly more complex then just turtling keep.
You need to either be confident you will either:
- Have enough kills to reach 0 in 1 hour before your opponent does (Arguably harder to do in IOC than AV since gates worth 50 reinforcements are likely much harder to take down in a turtle than towers cap-able by one person worth 100 reinforcements in AV)
- After one hour, you must have more reinforcements than your opponent by maintaining Quarry or Refinery and beating enemy on kills but also, according to that wowhead info, take down at least one wall before the timer hits 1 hour.
According to what I learned, the three of us who ran bombs in that bg managed to eke out a win just barely by getting that gate down only seconds before timer went out.
I am kind of curious if that wowhead info is correct.
I never heard of a timer for anything in IoC. Not sure what you think is supposed to happen after 1 hour.
Do you have any games lasting longer than an hour in IOC? I’m fairly certain we got a timer win and a comment on wowhead from 2018 mentions one as well
I’m sure I’ve been in BGs longer than 1hour, even AV’s.
Here’s one that lasted 1.5 hours.
There’s no hidden timers in IoC, the only way to win is kill the boss or run out of reinforcements.
Congratulations on the epic win! This is a really cool.
I’ve played a ton of epic BGs, but I never knew this until now. Honestly, it makes sense for Blizzard to include a win condition like that. Since both refinery and quarry generate points, the game could theoretically drag on forever if both teams just decide to turtle.
Why trust someone’s years-old experience over what the OP just saw firsthand? Blizzard could have added this rule recently without announcing it.
I love the hangar choke as horde because all the ranged dps have to waddle through CC and for a brief time experience what it’s like to play melee in big team fights.
So OP is saying the boss didn’t die and reinforcements didn’t hit 0.
Hard to believe. I’ll have to try on next turtle game.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yib2okfiSwg Here’s a game from 3 weeks ago that lasted 1h02
Start Hangar fight at 6:47
Victory by reinforcements at 7:49
OP is trusting an even older experience from 2018, which is where he got the 1-hour figure from. He originally thought it was after 45 minutes, clearly showing hes just estimating the match duration. The 2018 experience would also imply that this isn’t a new rule, but one that has existed since epic bg’s were made into their own queue, and that in 7 years of people running IoC only two people have ever noticed and said something about this otherwise completely undocumented rule.
This is not a big deal either way. It’s simply bad practice to take one anecdotal experience, especially one based on estimates and fuzzy memories, and then proclaim hidden timers and secret win conditions exist.
