Hidden areas in classic WoW

I wonder if the developers will remember to keep the old hidden areas on the map like Newman’s Landing, the abandoned Tauren village south of AQ, the hidden mini Atlantis off the southern coast of Tanaris etc.
Then I wonder if there will ever come a day when they will actually use those areas in classic.

I’m pretty sure what they’re trying to do is port 1.12 onto their existing architecture.

I don’t think they’re making this from the ground up.

Cool so guess the map should be exactly the same. Cant wait to see the old world again.

Yep it will be the same map loaded back into the game, so everything should be there including places we weren’t supposed to access such as glitchy terrain inbetween zones although they might make it harder to reach them. The only map change I can think of that they would likely do would be removing GM island and placing it in it’s own instance to prevent player access as I believe they did this some time after vanilla. This wouldn’t really be noticed though so the map will be effectively the same.

As long as I’ll still be able to Hellfire myself into the Karazhan crypt, I’m happy.

Since they are using the new engine you won’t be able to get to as many places without wall walking or wall jumping

I’m sure it’ll all be there, but some places might not be accessible due to their fixing of wall climbing.

Would be kind of interesting to see GM island though. If you wanted the real classic experience, you’d get permanently banned for trying to go there, but it was still part of classic and even though most of us don’t remember that place, it was in a lot of Youtube videos and thus, a part of the rich history of classic.

Still holding onto hope that I’ll be able to get into the Caverns of Time.

Im pretty sure you cannot get to any of the ‘glitchy zones’ i read this somewhere. On another note anyone remember falling through stormwind?

Or the old “guild housing” portal area in stormwind.

Given that they’re restoring the 1.12 world, those areas should still be there. I spent a lot of time exploring and knew about a lot of areas.

Though unfortunately I don’t think we’ll be getting wall walking back which poses an issue for areas like the IF airport or Hyjal.

I also wonder if the Deadmines blink through the instance portal thing will work or not. Deadmines has a secret area hidden on the outskirts of the map.

With Blizzard’s strict no fun allowed policy, we most likely won’t see walljumping and other exploration methods.

IF Airport and Old IF only require slowfall at minimum. Dancing troll village, back entrances to Org and SW, and a few other places will also be unavailable. Without model swapping, getting to the top of Grim Batol would be a pain regardless. Tried wall jumping up there to only say screw it when I fell from half way a third time. Oh ya, because of the fixes the way to get to GM Island without swapping boat/zepplin pathing models won’t be available. My nostalgia heart hurts.

I wouldn’t put it past the player base finding new methods of reaching places even if the old methods were removed.

Later in vanilla they added a debuff to Hyjal that teleported you out if you entered the zone.

I remember blinking through the DM portal but I doubt that will still be possible. There are other ways to get outside of deadmines though.

I liked leveling my fishing at the empty tauren village soutj of AQ. It was peaceful.
