There’s rumors of a huge revamp to the vanilla zones, so we might see something happening with that sword.

We did cleanse it if it’s corruption thankfully, and due to our efforts in BFA we did manage to stabilize Azeroth’s condition. The sword is akin to a large piece of shrapnel that, while painful, can’t be removed at the moment without causing further damage.

Although, with the jailer trying to slurp Azeroth’s soul like a smoothie, followed by this elemental awakening, I think it’s safe to say that she is in fact no longer stable, and may need…more help.
We shouldn’t take the sword out though. That’s how you bleed out.
