Hi Blizzard, I own a boosting Discord - am I allowed to do this I don't want to get in trouble

Hello!

So my current situation is that I own a mage boosting discord for WoW classic which links players to other players for fast experience gains by killing mobs in dungeons/raids. These boosts that are done in game to help other players vary in price (gold) based on what dungeon the mage is helping the person out in.

Recently someone boosted my discord server by paying 5$ a month just to help out the server and get level 1 perks in it. My question is, if I say those who boost the server will receive free boosts in game for helping out my discord community, is that breaking Blizzard ToS?

I don’t think it is, but someone brought it to my attention and I used this analogy to prove a point: If a streamer receives a donation on their stream and so they decide to help that player who donated to them out, do they get in trouble for “breaking ToS”? With this in mind, I think it’s within ToS, but I came here seeking an official answer/opinion. Do keep in mind, I do not force people to boost the Discord server, it is simply a perk that if they do decide to donate to my community, they get free runs. I do not advertise this perk in any way in-game and it is completely up to the person donating.

Thank you for your time and let me be clear in no way do I wish to break the ToS at all in any way and try very hard to make sure everything we are doing is 100% ok.

its called “Gold-laundering” :stuck_out_tongue:
you can call it donation but when you asking to boost you after that then its RMT.

You just exposed yourself about doing boost for money. Good luck shaking Blizz now, the only thing they go after is another man making money off them. Lol

Yeah, it is not even very thinly veiled.

I hope Blizzard nukes the OP’s accounts from space.

  1. Do not accept real money and you are ok.

  2. Use Blizzard chats. The moment something happens and the chat was in Discord, Blizzard will do nothing even if you have the logs.

Follow these and you should be fine.

how is it gold laundering, all I’m doing is asking if I’m allowed to help the my community if their boosting my sever so we can get more emojis and stuff ??? If I’m not allowed to I won’t as simple as that but from what I’ve seen on streams if they allowed to bring people through raids and stuff for being a sub or many times members of a discord. I’ve never done this but I’ve seen things like it a lot so I’m trying to figure out if allowed or not as its very unclear and so far everything I’ve read in ToS has said I’m allowed but I’m still unsure so checking here first?

You’re saying “give me money and I’ll give you services in game”.

Read the ToS, pretty sure this goes against it, no matter which way you slice it.

Doesn’t really matter how you’re collecting the money or what it is being used to do.

I’m not asking anyone to boost my sever just trying to offer something to members of my sever that have already boosted it as a thank you I have been trying to think of something to do for them this is was I thought of but I wanted to make sure it’s ok first.

Don’t think it really matters though. You’re taking money and offering a service. Pretty sure that’s not OK.

If you want to offer to do something for these people, I would find something out of the game, somewhere, otherwise you’ll probably be putting yourself at risk.

You literally are doing it as a weak attempt to disguise RMT practices.

I’m not taking money I make no money off it and streamers have sub only raids and do things with subs specifically all the time their actually paying them directly so?? people can boost my sever for free with a nitro sub is that ok? stop acting like I’m trying to make money when I’m just trying to think of something I can do back for my community.

Same. Hope he gets perma-banned.

perma banned for asking if i can do something?

This community is very fragile, proceed with caution.

For some reason the boomers commenting here seem to have little understanding as to what discord nitro is, the person who owns the discord server literally makes no money. All of the money goes into Discord (the company) pockets. Nitro Boost just gives the discord server better perks (for all, not just for OP). I think most of the people commenting here are aged dinosaurs who probably have to call their grandkid because they forgot their own wifi password.

I think it’s fine, like you said, as long as you are not advertising “free boosts for discord nitro boost” it should be okay, because at that point it is a service. But if someone nitro boost and you say thanks, heres a free run, I see zero issue with that.

thanks I really don’t wanna do anything wrong I just wanted to do something nice for my community  also to make sure I’m not going to get me or anyone in trouble as we all really love this game and don’t want to do anything we are not allowed
