And why? :3
Personally I just don’t like modding the game too much - I’m awful at that and I’m more likely to destroy my computer than not -
IDK, I figured out how to use addons when I was 12, before the addon installer era. I believe in you, OP, they really help the game out…
I would find this game unenjoyable without addons and instantly stop playing.
Once I tried Elvui, there’s no going back.
I always dislike all the floating names, but because of the NPCs’ categorization, the in-game filters don’t work for me.
Me too. Not just in this game, but in general (like, Skyrim, for example), I don’t like to use mods that much. Like, I bought WoW, not [name of mod], and if WoW sucks, then that’s that. Playing it with ten mods to make the inventory management less of a pain is kind of letting the devs profit off of the work of unpaid fans.
I used to use a lot of mods back in the day, but I don’t anymore, because a lot of the functionality has been removed and the features I really liked are already incorporated in to the base game (e.g. map coords, boss fight instructions, etc.). Plus, there’s always conflict with people who don’t use the same mod. I was in a pug with some guy and he was trying to explain something about healing but I couldn’t understand what he was trying to say because his chat was all “you need to cast renewlink.uimg/renewIcon: inline tab 40:40 preserf ratios before casting detoxlink.uimg/detoxiconn:inline tab” etc. etc. and it was just impossible to understand him and he was getting madder and madder.
mods in wow are different than other games. I like WoW-based ones because you can literally customize your interface to be a specific, uqique way you want to play the game…Which is good for players transitioning from other games imo.
there’s some that are mandatory imo, but more power to you if you’re playing naturally! the blizz UI isn’t actually that bad.
Me.
I have tried a few for specific situations and they always end up either being intrusive/immersion breaking or more work than they are worth.
I recommend using ElvUI or BenikUI. Also do get the details and DBM addons so that you’re not a bad player.
So I’ve heard - but I mean I started when I was 12 and I went through a period of trying to prove I could tank without them - a stubborn dream then, I suppose, but I did get up to flex Garrosh back in the day. Lovely time.
Now I’m suffering from the fact that I’ve just never learned.
There’s a damaged user in my guild that has never used an add on ever, and I make fun of her constantly but mostly for being Canadian (jealousy)
Heyyyyy don’t go being an elitist - we unaddled folks can play just fine. Just because our systems don’t match up doesn’t mean we can’t communicate!
By the way the unaddled isn’t supposed to be an insult, more a play on words. Like Un-addoned.
Take it as you see fit
I don’t know how I would survive without SavedInstances addon. I would have to keep track of which rares each ALT has done every week with a paper and pencil or notepad file. And SilverDragon tells me if a rare is close by and what mount/pet/toy/achieve it drops and if I already have it.
But I use no addon to heal. Just been doing it the old way too long.
I use addons so I don’t have much to add on that front.
But after BFA I think the default UI is a lot more tolerable then it once was. So players not using addons is a lot more understandable compared to prior to BFA IMHO.
I use details so I can show off my sick dps in instance chat
that’s the only addon I use any more I don’t feel like updating them so it’s still on 8.2.5 I think
I don’t know how I’m supposed to take it, thus the confusion.
I don’t know what to tell you if deductive reasoning doesnt it help we’ll just leave it a mystery
I think the whole “damaged” thing is referring to the fact that their friend hasn’t used addons - that she’s nuts not to.
Which, I mean, tis everyone to themselves.
I used to be in a fairly good mythic raiding guild (top 300 world) at one point and I did not use addons aside from a damage meter. I decided to get DBM at some point and holy crap does that ever help you. It’s so much easier to have a constant reference for add spawns and dangerous abilities so you don’t have to rely on feeling it out
I’d say pretty much all addons are just a preference but a lot of them make the game much easier to handle when you’re doing something that you consider challenging.
