"... even on retail, but we're going to go ahead and jam it into classic, too. We know we have zero credibility on delivering, but we promise it won't impact how many Kazzak's you see (SEE GUYS, WE REMEMBER HIM TOO!).
The risk is worth it in our opinion, can you imagine if Durotar were really crowded for about a week? That's not Blizzard Quality™"
Its a demo. Not a beta.
However many 10,000s of people all logging on to try it today, they put sharding in so that people can experience a smooth demo without servers crashing. You aren't meant to form bonds a year or two before its even released, you're just meant to get a quick taste of the game, and see the world in the hour that you have.
The classic crowd will throw tantrums over literally anything. If its the open beta and its still like this, then you can go have your whinge.

A blue posted and said sharding was in for the release version. That's one of the reasons why everyone is so mad.
Go watch Staysafe TV's new youtube video, they spoke to a developer and were basically told that some things in the demo like sharding won't be there in the real version and they feel confident that Blizz will listen to what people want.
It's there now in the demo for stability and I don't blame them, loads of people forked out $50 for only a week of play and there would be giant crap storms if servers went down and no one could get on.
The blue post hinted the same, it seems like they were considering putting it in at launch and then taking it away after things have calmed down but I doubt they will do that now after the backlash.

It's a demo, not a Beta!
It's an Alpha, it'll be fixed by Beta!
It's a Beta, it's gonna get fixed before launch!
It's 6.1/7.1/8.1, They have to fix it by 6.2/7.2/8.2...
Where have we seen this pattern before...?
Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor, Legion, Battle for Azeroth
Nope. Whinge time is now.
You start gettin' excited motha!@#$a, we gotta go!
Frantically stuffs clothes iron in the bug out bag

I'm pretty sure they said they were only considering it.
vanilla will have sharting, me sharting on a printed out version of their version of the vanilla wow icon.
They're thinking about it for Live, at best. It'll probably be in for a week in problem zones (Starting Areas, etc) until all the crowds have gone and the realms are stable, then they'll take it out.

I'm fine with that tbh, but it's a bit worrisome. Part of me doesn't trust they will fully remove it.11/03/2018 03:02 AMPosted by MoonstakerThey're thinking about it for Live, at best. Just like CRZ wouldn't be in current content?
Once it's in, it's in, and unless blizz for some reason 8 years later decides it's now bad, it's in forever.
Once we see it, it's too late, UNLESS we hit them in the bottom line.
Ok, so this is a story unrelated to Classic as a whole, but to the demonization of CRZ.
I played on Dethecus for years, while it was a dead realm around 2010-2014. As fun as it was only seeing someone once in a blue moon, and most of the time it'd be me running into my Dad, CRZ did help to give a bit more life to a situation where most of the time, I would never see anyone else on my way to cap. Even at cap, it would be rare to see anyone else outside of cities, and wpvp was dead.
Its not perfect, but for some low pop realms, its the only way to feel immersed in a world with other people. I'm not trying to excuse it btw.

The other side of that coin is the people who LIKED that world. Now our close knit "Cheers" server just turned into Grand Central Station.
