a lot of subjective opinions in there.
They should not develop worthless dungeons for an expansion and do player housing. Dungeons and raids are garbage that the game doesn’t need.
The problem with that logic is that there are always people who think what YOU like is “garbage” too.

They could do it with the current game engine, garrisons proved they can have mass private instances for every character. I think they have just never felt it was something that was really in high demand. I mean for the longest time I didn’t care for it. Then I played games like Aion online and SWToR which had player housing (but with different takes upon it) and I found that I actually enjoyed it.
That said, it’s not a huge “want” for me in WoW. It would be great if they added a robust player housing system but I can honestly live without it. Maybe they could use the garrison design but all for far more customization.
The issue is you are trying to argue that something the game was based on should be sidelined for something that isn’t even a part of the game. We are talking about core gameplay here versus aesthetic side things.

those “features” is exactly why Garrisons were not player housing. That is the whole point of the argument against Garrisons.
So your argument is
IT’s not player housing because it was better then player housing because it actually had functional things in it you could do?
I was pointing out the hypocrisy of saying that what you enjoy is more important than what other’s enjoy.
I dont really care for Battle pets, though I partake casually, but that doesn’t mean I don’t think it isnt worthy to exist for those who love it.
Yes, that’s exactly it. (though “better” is your word not mine)
It’s not about what I enjoy
fact of the matter is I don’t enjoy dungeons or raids.
However that is what this game is now, was in the past, and always will be. Dungeons and Raids is what this game is. It’s the core defining feature.
Blizzard was too lazy to make Garrisons movable to different zones and you guys trust them to handle player housing?
Because people would literally afk in their houses and cities would be a barren zone like they were in WoD. Same reason AH is no longer included for everyone in new zones, only for engineers. It looks bad to new players if they walk into the heart of their faction’s capital and its dead cause everyones afking in their house, making them think the game is dead or “everyones in the new high level zone so no reason to return back to the older zones” like many games do.

Player housing is a massive time sink. WoW already has enough time sinks with pet battles, fishing, grinding out whatever the flavor-of-the-expansion borrowed power is, etc. Devs have other things they have to keep on top of, and players have enough to do. Usually.
I actually lobbied for this a while back (3-ish years?). I think drakonids similar to those found in BWL would be awesome.
And on a side note, I’ve played games with player housing. Garrisons are not player housing. Comparing garrisons to player housing is like comparing a Smart Car that got totaled after it collided with a squirrel to a Pagani Huayra doing laps on the Nurbergring.

Garrisons and Farms bear only a mild resemblance to what people think of when you say ‘player housing.’ Shouting ‘strawman!’ and ‘Scottsman Fallacy!’ doesn’t change things; we know exactly what the design intent behind garrisons were and it is not congruous to the idea of player housing.
At no point will you ever be in danger of having to explain this vague, nebulous idea that player housing is a ‘bad game idea.’ If you’re conceding that player housing doesn’t benefit the core gameplay loop of an MMORPG, then we’d be in agreement. It’s the whole point to player housing. It’s an alternative, or a break from it, that’s the entire point.

Exactly and my response to people keep pushing for this…

Not a myth it was a literal issue in WoD. It’s a proven fact.

You were actually supposed to be able to choose garrison location in multiple zones and customize it, but they scrapped it and simplified it.
please refer back to our previous messages…you answered the question yourself. You literally typed it in, and forgot the answer 3 responses later…
Nope, not a myth like copperfield said. Remember pandaria and WoD both had auctions? It emptied out SW and Orgrimmar so you never had to go back, they didn’t like that.

I do remember it in WoD…
But the more interesting question is:
Why, out of the multitude of MMO’s that have some sort of “housing”, was WoW the only one with the “ghost town” problem?
None of the other MMOs have this issue…so Why did WoW? Answer that question and you’ll know why WoW never did true Player Housing and why Garrisons had the issues it did during WoD.
If you don’t plan to stay in your house.
What do you want a house for? You obviously are not using it because you are saying you won’t be spending your time there.
