Hey, so, why was player housing never a thing and

Just because you didn’t like it doesn’t mean it wasn’t player housing.

It was player housing and that is all that matters.

This seems to be the standard response from people who do not know much about player housing in other MMO’s

Hint, the fundamental base problem with Garrisons and why they weren’t housing is because Blizzard felt they had to add baseline required items within it.

Thank you Ordara :clap:t2::raised_hands:t2: My fellow comrade gnome is lost in the ways of the dark arts of being undead :frowning:

You are not a real gnome, or warrior. You are just Blizzard take on a gnome or warrior.

See how stupid of an argument that is?

Housing is housing.

True, i’ve never played an MMO with player housing (well, Toontown, if you count that). It just feels wrong in wow. I don’t really have a good argument other than I just feel like it’s wrong.

Player housing like Wildstar plz, kthx.

I have played many with it. Wildstar, Final Fantasy, Archeage.

Honestly it all feels pretty terrible and detached from the game. Except in Archeage but that is because they made player housing their game.

No, I’m not familiar with ESO’s housing system. Sounds like it could be fun.

I should have further clarified that I just don’t believe that Blizzard is capable of implementing it in a sensible and fun fashion. Any number of other games have made housing systems that are fun.

But Blizzard tends to not put their best foot forward on extensive and robust new features like that. E.g. Garrisons, Class Halls, Path of Titans, 3-D Class flavor items, etc…

gar·ri·son

/ˈɡerəsən/

noun

  1. the troops stationed in a fortress or town to defend it.

a body of troops stationed in a fortified place. the place where such troops are stationed. any military post, especially a permanent one.

Yes housing is housing, and a garrison is a garrison

But a garrison is not housing for an individual.

Well there is that and there is the fact that lets say they do add player housing. That would take away from the development of dungeons, raids, and zones. As it would take a lot of focus away from the art team responsible for those things.

Art team definitely seems busy lately, gotta make more transmog items for the cash shop!

Really? You are going to try and argue using a dictionary? When you know full well that the Garrison is the exact same as Player housing. It was yours and your alone. It housed NPCs but you was in control.

Ok guys, I am going to bed. I just hope I don’t come back and suddenly theres a riot of ‘BURN HIM AT THE STAKE, HERESY!!! HERESY!!!’ ( seriously I play a fantasy rpg but lets leave the gruesome parts out of it.

Thank you so extremely much for all your responses!

Hmm, you kinda just contradicted yourself there my friend. You said it was added and it is garrisons, then in the 2nd quote box you imply they haven’t yet.

Could you also link my a source where blizzard themselves said garrisons are playing housing? Because I’ve watched WOD blizzcon features live and followed its development pretty close, I even go back watch them for fun. I don’t recall them ever calling it player housing.

But if I am wrong and they have, please correct me.

Yes lets compare a few transmog items to something that would take as much work as a house.

You think Acti-Blizzard cares about players at this point?

They’re trying so many gimmicks in SL to confuse the hell out of players

Again, if you believe garrisons were true player housing as is relative to other MMO’s then your either being obstinate or ignorant, neither of which are positive traits.

It is quite literally impossible to go use EQ2 or SWTOR’s (or any of all the other major MMOs out there) Player housing then come back to WoW and say WoW’s Garrisons were the same thing. Any attempt to do so just makes ya look foolish.

You are right I should reword what I said there. If they add player housing in the way you insane fanatics want them to. Because be honest you won’t be happy unless its 1005% Fully costumizable with 320000 doodads and a robust system of furnishing ect ect. All a bunch of garbage the game don’t need that takes away from the production of the real game for something that literaly doesn’t matter.

Garrison was Housing for WoW and they done it in a way to make it so they didn’t have to try and take away from the actual game in order to do it by making it part of the game and in proper moderate scale.

WoW already tried player housing – they called it garrisons.

If you say “but that’s not what I mean by player housing” you have your answer – EVERY player has a DIFFERENT idea what “player housing” is. Blizzard knows that no matter WHAT Blizzard creates, tons of players will say “That’s not player housing!”

It would be different if all the players agreed. But I’ve been reading “player housing” threads for several years, and they do NOT agree on the “required” features. They all want different things. They only share the word “player housing”. Well, Blizzard can’t create a word.

Because Blizzard has a vested interest in making expansion features last for that expansion only. Like Garrisons, player housing would last one expansion then Blizzard would forget all about it.

Meaning that player housing would be a huge disappointment.
