Very well done. This is the tightest, smoothest gameplay in WoW yet. It’s fresh, story is good (so far), got some legends returning, everything looks great, and more. All in all very well thought out and fun expansion pack.

Look, as someone who actually enjoys shadowland, I have to say that calling this train wreck of a story “good” is a huge stretch.
SL is good. Story? No.

I think the developers certainly deserve praise for putting out a product as high of quality as Shadowlands is considering the conditions imposed on them by the pandemic.
That said, I don’t think Shadowlands so far is quite up to the standards I personally was hoping for. I also think much of this isn’t actually due to anything the developers want or particularly thought was good. Many changes to the game since WoD feel more like they’re being pushed in by Executives looking to boost specific numbers for the quarterly reports.
I have no complaints as an Arcane Mage, but I acknowledge other classes and specs do have many valid criticisms. The multiple systems all tied to player power make balancing a nightmare. We have conduits, we have crafted legendaries, we have covenant powers, etc…
As ever, feedback was provided very early on about this, particularly covenant powers and how players would be torn between choosing the covenant they like and the one with the best power for their class/spec. As ever, someone(s) at Blizzard has stubbornly insisted it’ll work and forced it out the door, and the problems that players outlined over a year ago have come true.
The gameplay has been worse, I think, but what we have now is not peak balance.
On this I need to disagree hard.
The story itself might be good, but the spreading out of the content, locking it behind covenants, time gating it behind weeks of renown and Torghast, etc… I’m not enjoying the story at all.
It’s like watching an interesting show on TV, but only the first episode is on cable. Then the show splits into four additional series focused around four different characters, all airing concurrently, but you need Netflix to watch one, Hulu for another, Amazon Prime for the third, and the last is only on HBO Max.
Likewise, I think its only in Maldraxxus where a returning character has had any significant presence for us. We never even encountered Kael’thas in Revendreth while leveling, and Uther was an antagonist in Bastion.
Speaking for myself, it could be much better, but it could be worse. At least its not BFA anymore.

I dunno guys, I’ve played since day 1 and a lot more serious than most players. I played all expansion packs, and didn’t really like any of them after WotLK, but this Shadowlands is pretty damn awesome IMO.

Hold on let me try one. this expansion is totally awesome! I was getting tired of all of this rewarding experience in the previous expansions I’m so happy that they’ve trimmed all that back and make my leveling experience a grand total of 6 hours and unrewarding content that becomes irrelevant in a matter of weeks thank you Blizzard You’re really doing a great job. It feels like a GEICO commercial I just saved $15 a month because I no longer play this expansion

I like Shadowlands well enough, but I wouldn’t say much positive about the story. I’m done with Sylvanas, I’m absolutely sick of seeing her popping up everywhere, and honestly I’m done with all the main stays getting involved. Cast all of them into the Maw and be done with it.
