Can you revert the lava surge proc nerf and nerf something else? Every single ele shaman hates it and wants to exchange for a different nerf, or no nerf because its an azerite trait thats giving it so much power.
edit: here’s an idea, delete igneous potential and see what i mean.
Agreed, if I was an ele or resto shaman main I would’ve immediately quit from this patch.
The only fun part of ele/resto is lava surge procs, why would they nerf fun? Reduce the damage numbers, don’t take away the FUN interaction part, it’s a horrible way to balance the game.
It wasn’t nerfed based on pre-patch. If they were nerfing things based on pre-patch performance, Shaman would be down the list a ways. This was a change based on SL performance. My guess is they did this so they could buff the Deeply Rooted Elements legendary to look better, but I think it’s a bad change. I don’t think many people were going to use that meme legendary at a 5% change to proc Ascendance and I don’t think many will use it now at 7-8%.
Thats my biggest issue, they seem to be working shaman’s (maybe all classes) around legendry’s which should be the opposite. Legendrys should help bring out the strengths of a spec.
If they nerfed it for a legendary they really need to fire whoever made this decision. should be a rule to NEVER nerf base spec for a POSSIBLE leggo. Please blizzard, have mercy.
chain lightning, lightning bolt and all shocks are immensely unsatisfying in their current iterations. That leaves lava surge and earthquake as really the only cool abilities that have big impact and aren’t on huge CDs
Keep in mind that Lava Surge proc chance was 10% for all of Legion. My hypothesis that this was done for the legendary is just that, a hypothesis. This could have just been a normal tuning change, especially given the fact that they buffed Lava Burst damage. In recent sims I’ve done, Lava Burst was a huge percentage of my total damage.
Why nerf Elemental Shaman? It was always a ‘good’ spec baseline that gets left behind with systems. Just going to be problematic when we get those systems.
