Hey activision/blizzard. You can just give up and delay the expansion for a little while

It’s okay, I won’t be mad.

Then play something else and come back in January. I’ll be playing it in October.

'cause you think they’ll address issues you have with the expansion? OP

Even if they delayed they wouldn’t have enough time.

They made the mistake of tying everything into the Covenants. Now it’s just a house of cards. Remove one, the whole thing collapses.

This is why I believe ion when he said they could “Pull the ripcord.” But I think he vastly underestimated the corner they designed themselves into.

I already am.

It never will be. If you gave Blizzard infinite time, resources, and money it would still never be done. There would always be something else to add or tweak or change.

Is there a whole lot of tuning left to do, though? What are some of the issues still?

Yes. Leveling is really buggy on the PTR, so is character customization. Also, I’m not on Beta, but people I know who are say that balance is borked and nothing works. Also that the Maw is incomplete/tuned weirdly.

A lot of tuning left to do.

They just reworked a lot of Covenant abilities two days ago. Soulbinds are still looking a bit unbalanced, and Conduits are still a developing feature.

Some classes have more bugged legendaries, conduits and soulbinds than working ones.

Delaying is a more efficient way to polish the product rather than releasing it and trying to fix it while also maintaining the live game.

Blizzard was at its best when they delayed and delayed and delayed until the game is right. The only way someone just wants a rush job is if they barely play the game enough where glaring flaws don’t impact their 10 minutes of solo content a week

Thanks for the answers, folks. Are some of these things that can be fixed with small maintenance patches?

I know something that Path of exile does is tune as it goes. I don’t know if the code is so broken that it just wouldn’t be playable on launch.

We’ll see tuning all the way up until the first raid tier releases.

This is why I urge people to choose their mains and covenants carefully. Something that is OP or BiS at launch, may not be when Nathria opens up.

That’s why I’m just picking covenants based on lore and aesthetic. I’m deciding to value flavor choice over min/maxing, especially since I don’t want to regret picking an aesthetic I’m not interested in and then seeing the tuning happen to make it less powerful.

Yeah, this expansion is going to be really weird and controversial I think. Either everything is going to be tuned so much that there is no point in changing because one thing that could be OP could be trash a few months later (which would make people really mad), or everything is just going to stay in relatively the same place with balance only changing in major patches.

And what makes you think that, given another YEAR, this design team would suddenly transform into a team that would give you what you want?

Do you also keep buying the same cookies you don’t like because, this time, you are sure THIS time, the cookies will taste different?

It should be delayed, but in reality it won’t.

Major system redesigns should not be worked on this late in the cycle, it’s gonna end up being broken, due to it being rushed to reach a deadline. I truely hope that this isn’t gonna be a WC reforged levels of brokeness when it releases.
