I tanked a dungeon earlier today and it seems there are changes to heroic throw:
- 1 second cooldown instead of 3 seconds
- Only hits one enemy
I don’t see these changes in the patch notes, but I do see “Improved Heroic Throw” was removed. Is this related?
Makes it harder to pull multiple groups into each other…

There were two talents for heroic throw and I think they were both removed. One had it hit multiple targets but no one used it so it got chopped.
Is there a particular pull you’re having issues with?

Charge group A and thunder clap, heroic throw group B, taunt someone in group C. Ravager @ player. This is only 3 GCD and you can use shield charge instead to get mitigation rolling if group A requires early mitigation.
That should be enough to keep everything on you from A. If groups B or C have a caster you may need to los, use interrupting shout, or ask for a kick while they come to melee.
You can drop ravager in the path of groups B & C so they run through it while they head towards you. This will also help get threat on any ranged mobs that aren’t heading your way. Alternatively you can charge A and TC, charge B and revenge/kick caster, heroic leap into C and shield charge/ignore pain. In the following global.

The only couple pulls I can think of in DF S4 is the dwarves after the snek boss in uld. You can triple pull the 3 in the hall, the next 4, and taunt the other 4 pack. Usually you only have to have 1 kick for stone bolt on that first 3 pack caster to group them. That’s the only one I have issues grouping in that dungeon, and that’s a nasty pull on high key fort weeks because stone bolt trucks.
In brackenhide, you should be able to get every combination pull onto a hunter mob or a caster mob that chain casts. I can’t think of a combo pull in there that I have issues with that has 2 mobs that plant and cast/fire away.
It’s not really worth the time saved in NO before first boss to bother with it unless you’re in a coordinated group. The charge at farthest target can be deadly if used rapidly together if you chain pull at high keys unless you know how to bait with big defensives from a ranged/heal.
I’m probably just not pulling correctly.
If I heroic throw a group with multiple mobs, then I only have aggro on the mob that was hit, right? As soon as the healer casts anything, they get aggro from the other mobs in that group.
Is it typically recommended to charge every group to get aggro on all mobs?
You can just driveby thunderclap it.

I don’t understand why people would not use Heroic Throw to pull every group or boss. It’s at 30 yard range and generates high threat on up to 6 targets. By the time your HT has left your hand and you’re still running you can already be charging into the group or a secondary group and Tclap to get more threat. Why would they get rid of our only range multi target threat generator. Quite possible one of the worst changes they’ve made so far to tanking warriors. And any warriors who haven’t been using Titanic Throw just haven’t been playing the class properly.

While I’m also dissapointed in the loss of Titanic Throw, it did come with sacrificing other important talents. It wasn’t super uncommon (nor a wrong choice) for people to not take Titanic Throw. Hopefully it makes a return (I hope baseline) for Prot Warrior.
I haven’t even tanked any dungeons yet and I already miss Titanic Throw.
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I feel silly about it but this change has sapped my desire to play my warrior and I wanted to main him into TWW. What do we have to do to get our throw back?
Same here, heroic throw made tanking much more relaxing and was the number one reason I was going to play warrior.
I’ll miss it because it made farming sparks of life at the start of a pvp season trivial lol.
All the other warriors would just jump into the meat grinder and die instantly, while I would stand out on the edges and tag people.
It was also really nice for farming older content when combined with loot-a-rang.
AMEN!!! It was a point I ALWAYS took! ALWAYS! I think a massively overlooked talent. BRING IT BACK!
huh… I used it all the time and am disappointed that they removed it. The alternative is Shockwave which has a 40 second cooldown. You also have to be within 10 yards… which is so close you can see your enemies nose hairs. Guess we will just have to spam our gutted Heroic Throw or alter our playing style somewhat.
In what world are shockwave and heroic throw being considered to accomplish the same goal

They’re clearly conflating Storm Bolt with Heroic Throw, neither of which were removed, with a conversation about Titanic Throw (which has also been conflated with Improved Heroic Throw several times throughout this thread).
