Heya. Our guild is currently hung up on Queen Ansurek - I feel that we’re missing something integral to the fight. Both tanks just get deleted every now and again and we can’t figure out why. Taunts seem to be going out when needed. Is there a trick to this to make it easier? Maybe taunting during the initial cast? Any advice would be appreciated.
When dbm say taunt, u taunt.
Taunting during the cast of the initial tank buster works well and avoids the awkwardness of trying to snipe a super tight taunt timing between the 2 hits.
Both tanks getting deleted sounds very unusual to me, my guess is the one getting the healing absorb doesn’t get healed enough, ends up dying so the first tank now has the boss on him with the debuff still on as well so he ends up dead as well.
Maybe put more resource on the second tank to help him survive the heal absorb like externals or just some focus healing, maybe switch the tanking order to make the tank with the most self healing get the healing absorb. Make sure when they move the boss away from the puddles they don’t just give their back to the boss. Not sure what else, usually just using defensives and pumping some single target heal on second tank should be enough, assuming it’s not an ilvl issue.
Not simultaneously, I should have been more clear. Just that it happens to both, depending on who the initial cast is going out on.
Tank 1- Takes Liquify with defensive and possibly external
Tank 2- (preferably the tank with better self heals. Bear, DK, Paly) Taunts DURING the liquify cast as Queen does a quick melee attack right after Liquify. Uses Defensive and gets ready for self heals on FEAST.
Tank 2- Healers focus to get the debuff off, possible externals. Tank 2 self heals Feast Absorb
Tank 1- Once Liquify Debuff is gone (30 seconds of 100% increased physical damage taken) taunts boss for next Liquify
Repeat until P3.
One tank holds boss, other tank only taunts when AoE that spawns adds gies out. Once that tank is back they can retaunt if wanted.
This looks like a mix of taunt fails on top of not using defensives. If you are doing H queen and are below 620 as a tank, you got to have one or 2 defensives stacked for liquify and minimum of 2 to 3 for feast.
On my warrior it was very simple, I saved spell block for liquify as its more magic dmg than physical, and shield wall for feasts. couple one or both with IP, shield block, maybe a demo shout and or spell reflect.
DK tank have excellent magic mitigation for liquify and vampiric blood and deathstrike to degate feasts ASAP.
pally tank gotta be smart with their defensive and make sure to stand in a consecration for either hits. I found that when my tanks were below 620, I had to be very smart with my defensives and their CDs and above 620 it was a lot of forgiving.
Its a very simple dance once you get it down. This is a boss where the taunt mechanic is a little different than what were used to, meaning the taunts need to be happening very quickly between 2 abilities. This also applies to P3 where the infest tank needs t taunt boss back ASAP so the other tank only really tanks gorge and therefore the boss in P3 for a total of like… 3 seconds lol (which is to say it’s not a 50-50 split of tanking responsability)
Is the tank dying to Feast? If so it’s a taunt issue. Liquify tank can’t get hit by feast. Liquify tank can’t really tank the boss at all during the 30 seconds the liquify debuff lasts as even her melee swings will 1 shot the tank from 100% without major CDs. So if the tank is not dying to Feast then it is not a taunt issue but rather your liquify tank is pulling aggro while they still have the debuff. That tank just needs to manage their aggro better.
