Maybe consider lowering the drop rate on heroic gems. I have been running heroic Ramps since early in the 2nd week of BC and i might have seen 2 epic pieces of armor and gems every other run.

I think I have seen only epic gems out of the last like six heroic runs. It was never this bad in the original BC that I can recall. It doesn’t help that most of these gems are terrible and BOP.
It is horrible, my BIS belt and bracers come from heroic Ramps and Shattered Halls, and i’m getting real freaking tired of seeing epic gems.
It’s a bug that the gems are dropping instead of the epic equippable item. Back in TBC the last boss guaranteed an epic equippable item.

I have now seen the same freaking defense/mp5 gem 7 times since starting to run Ramps, this is ridiculous.
A 99% useless gem instead of an epic piece of gear sucks hard.

You say this now until you are trying to farm like 5 of your bis gems to socket in your gear and have to spend over a month chasing those elusive gems you need meanwhile all the other drops are completely outclassed by the gear you have

Heroic dungeon gems are unique, and for the most part, are not much better than the blues JCs cut. I can get along just fine without the dungeon epic gems.
The point is, those gems are relevant for the entire expansion whereas the gear in those heroics is made obsolete in t4/t5

They are not relevant for the entire expansion, as soon as Hyjal comes out they are far outclassed by those epic gems.
Not only are those gems outclassed by Hyjal gems, they’re barely better than the blue quality gems, being at MOST +1 main stat compared to the blue gems. Later on, you can even buy them off the vendor with badges from doing heroics.
Meanwhile i’m trying to farm 3 BIS items from 3 different heroics…

I’d rather have the gem drops than useless gear that gets replaced in Kara or any of the p1 25 mans.
I’d rather have a piece of gear to disenchant for a void crystal or two even in the situation that the epic gear is “useless”.
The gems will be the gate, not shards.
But they don’t get replaced in Kara OR the 25 mans for several classes/specs, until t5. Also the one dungeon gem I am currently using, it has 1 extra agility over the same blue gem. If that is the difference between success and failure in a raid, your guild might be doing it wrong?
Depends on whether you are a raider a not. Back in the original TBC many casual players were only interested in progressing through 5/10 man content for their “endgame” gear & playing a variety of alts. The 5 man heroics were really designed for them, not raiders, who don’t even really need to bother with them.
